Having failed to download Oxted, Horsham, Maidstone AND the System files, I read the forum thread from other would-be signallers who also cannot run these downloads. I am not sufficiently confident to mess around with my virus checker (McAfee) which seems to be at the root of the problem. So perhaps your programmers need to be a little more pro-active in resolving this and when you are confident the bugs have been eliminated you will post a notice acccordingly. Many years ago I ran Victoria and Birmingham New Street perfectly so it is disappointing to find these new sims. do not work - particularly as I have purchased a licence for Horsham that I cannot access!

This is the first time that I have heard of the likes of all files not being able to be downloaded from the website, just to clarify, have they been download (to your downloads folder), but need to have the option of 'unblock' used from the properties window for the file etc?

The reason for asking this is because sometimes depending on the internet security being used, it throws a hissy fit at the programs.

Also failing that, do you have Windows UAC set to maximum?

It isn't an issue over which Simsig have much control unfortunately. It is down to McAfee (I'm not just singling them out most internet Security and anti virus software is the same industry wide.) who have decided to implement checks along the lines of "We don't recognize this file as it's only been downloaded a handful of times". Simsig though having quite a large user base for such bespoke software, is at the end of the day a tiny drop in the ocean waters of the internet, the files here are probably never going to be downloaded enough for them to pass this check.

There are simple solutions which you can do yourself, such as disabling your Anti-Virus software for a short period (Many give the option for 5 minutes at which point it will come back on).

Firstly it should be noted that the people having issues are (rightly) the only vocal ones. The 99.5% that installed successfully (yes, I did the calculations) wouldn't feel the need to post.

Secondly, just a few days ago we started trialing a new download method to try to help people such as yourself (yep, proactive). It's only on Leeds East/West at the moment, and there are a couple of teething issues, but on the whole most installed successfully. Several people on the forum have helped the remainder get everything working.

The installer follows Microsoft guidelines for installing software but we have no control over virus scanners. Unfortunately it does seem to happen more and more often these days, even with exes that have not changed for quite some time - so if the exe hasn't changed, why do virus scanners suddenly think it's a problem? (probably they're just more cautious than before)

Finally, we do appreciate your custom. As you can see, we do help on the forum where we can, and we are already trying to solve issues like this.
