New graphics cards in the early 1990s (the original hardware was not COTS due to the general unavailability of the required resolution in those days), and new software at the same time. Another major upgrade in the late 1990s, another in the 2000s, and now IECC Scaleable which - if I understand correctly - will be installed when York IECC moves to York ROC later this year. But nobody needs fancy 3d graphics with 2m colours for railway signalling, do they? SimSig Boss Log in to reply |

Remember that the UK requires the signaller to be able to see the railway at all times, no more than a few seconds behind, for safety reasons. I understand the US has no such requirement to do this.
