It's the sixth time this has happened in a very short time period. It happened five time on Bristol, so I thought it was it was something wrong with that simulator. I just bought York, but it happened here as well. What's wrong, and how do I fix it?

I don't really want to reinstall it. I'm afraid I will have to download everything again.

Pretty similar specs to mine, not had anything like this myself,

Does it happen regularly, such as during autosaves? Or when first loading?

Hard to say really - I can't remember SimSig locking up for a long time - I'm not claiming it's bug free, just that we handle exceptions better than before. Bristol is old so perhaps that is a factor. But if it happened on York, then that's a concern. It's not been unknown for 3rd party applications or device drivers to interfere though - for example, what is your anti virus software? Are your Windows drivers up to date?

Hardly relevant or constructive, I use Windows 10 for example and have had no issue at all with SimSig, or in fact anything else for that mattter.

Can you explain how it's "stopped working"? Can you talk us through what happens from when you click to start the Loader? For example, does it crash when you start a simulation? Can you start a simulation, but it crashes soon after? Can you start the Loader at all? Also, are any error messages displayed?

The more detail you can provide, the quicker someone will be able to work out what's gone wrong.

Thanks for answering. I'm using Avast, and I'm pretty sure my drivers are up to date, which I will check when I get home.

Sorry! I should have provided that information right away. I'm not on that computer right now, and I don't have SimSig installed on this one.

I'm able to start the loader, and the simulation. I can play anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour or two before it crashes. On York I managed to play around 10 minutes before it crashed.

Do the errors appear in the Windows event viewer? Normally, they should appear under Windows Logs -> Application - to trim the list down, filter for "Errors" with an Event ID of 1000.

If you could copy the data which is then appearing on the General pane, that might help Geoff and/or Clive in tracking down the error.

I've tried all the addresses in your post and none are valid for SimSigLoader as far as I can tell. As you're the only one that is seeming to have this problem, I'm afraid that I suspect it's a 3rd party influence. Do you have another computer you can try things on?

As a point of reference, I (somewhat rapidly admittedly (thanks ARS)) ran through York no less than 5 times in the week before releasing it, some 135 simulation hours and 40+ real time hours without this happening.

RE addresses, I recall a case where Clive stated some addresses were invalid using his chosen debugging program, but they were valid (and the cause of the problem) when using different debug programs.

(OllyDBG would have been the one I looked with)

Edit: However, looking at the quoted addresses again now I'm off my phone, they are indeed very different from any addresses I've ever seen for Simsig - sorry for that! The error does seem to implicate a non-Simsig file (USER32.dll), but that seems to cover all sorts of Windows API-related issues (display, mouse...).
