On the CScot multiplayer tonight, we came across a possible bug. On the attached pic, the REM'd point is failed, so I planned to route 7G20 via CEJ21 (the shunt sig on the Up Line), then back onto the down line via CEJ 10. The host had him o this after the points were set and locked, and he duly passed into the overlap TD for CEJ3 (i.e. before hitting the point work) - where the host notified us that 7G20 had run out of valid track. We managed to rescue it by reversing back and holding him at CEJ3 til the point failure was resolved. Sounds like the route from CEJ3 to CEJ21 isn't set up correctly? Admittedly this isn't normally a valid route - but it seems that it should be able to be used? Log in to reply |

I doubt that it is a valid route, as it is over a switch diamond crossing I believe. See the discussion on this thread I can only help one person a day. Today's not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look too good either. Log in to reply |

Danny, note the difference in appearance between Carmuirs East Junction and Larbert Junction. The latter has a distinct 'step' in the Down Branch as it crosses the Up Perth. What you suggest would (should?) probably have worked there. There's no 'step' in either the Down Branch or Up Grahamston at Carmuirs East though, implying a switch diamond crossing as Andy suggests, rather than two separate turnouts.

I'm not querying the layout here, but I've seen real panels that don't have the "step" even when there are separate points rather than a diamond.

I've seen the same, Clive - but always at a much shallower angle, and perhaps as a consequence of the 'tiles' forming the panel. I wouldn't expect to find it on an IECC-style display though, hence my comment.

Andrew - the sim numbers (correctly?) the points and switch diamonds 10A/10B/10C, but they still operate independently as though they are a crossover and a single turnout, so I'd suggest that the 'step' (and their operation) is an error in the sim.

The reason they are the way they are is that when I first started the Sim Larbert N had taken over operation and there the points are LN8, 9, 10 and shown as stepped (the second cross-over is not there either). I later reverted to include LJ and did not fully modify that aspect of the layout it would appear. Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |

That makes sense Peter - I have a suspicion that that Junction was renewed and moved towards Larbert before Larbert Junction closed.

From my recollection: The main change was that the Stirling to Edinburgh track was diverged a few tens of yards nearer Larbet, so creating a short length of 3 track line. The Edinburgh to Stirling track was then eased through the site of the full 'double junction & diamond' arrangement as a ladder. regards Bill Log in to reply |

hey im a signaller at carmuirs east and can confirm that it is not possible to route a train from CEJ3 -CEJ21 you can only route to CEJ 10 on the up branch the switch dimonds have been changed to a fixed crossing and the points setup at larbert are to set a route from carmuirs east to larbert north u have LN 8/9/10 Reverse also LN 41 Reverse
