HELP, where to start with hosting. 13/01/2017 at 19:06 #91520

Hi all,

I've been around on here for a while now, and I have never hosted a sim. I'd quite like to start getting into that side of things. I attempted Motherwell this evening and couldn't get anyone to connect. I have a VM 3.0 super hub.

Where do I start at getting my comp/router to allow connections or the sim?

I have looked through many sites and through the forum here but I am just not getting to grips as to what to do.
Any help would be awesome!

Thanks folks.
Craig

This page has a helpful guide on port forwarding on different Virgin Media routers.

Still struggling with this. I really want to get on and start hosting, as I find myself waiting for others to host which i think isn't fair as they could be relaxing and simming rather that being the boss. lol.

Does anyone know of any up to date video tutorials that can walk me through it step by step. I understand what it is, just confusing myself trying to do it.

Again, thanks folks for any help!

HAP

Assuming your hub is the same as mine...

I go to http://192.168.0.1

Enter password (I think it's possibly on a sticker on the router if you've not changed it)

Advanced Settings

Port Forwarding

In the Add Rule section:

Name: SimSig
Start Port: 50505
End Port: 50555
Protocol: TCP
IP Address: On the SimSig Loader, when you're on the Run a SimSig server page, the box in the bottom left, look for the one starting 192.168.0.<number>, that's the number that goes in this box

Then click "Add Rule", then "Apply", hopefully that'll set you right.

Thanks!

Local IP: The one you find via the Loader as above, usually 192.168.0.<something>
local start point: 50505
local end point: 50555
external start point: 50505
external end point: 50555
Protocol: TCP
Enabled: Yes, or ticked, or whatever looks like a "confirmation"

Hope this helps
