No Timetable Supplied? 20/05/2017 at 21:27 #95247

I'm not new to SimSig, in fact been using it for over 12 years and been to meets etc, and I understand the reasons why it has moved to Payware and using the loader, but it has got very frustrating to be able to simply download and play a sim.
I have paid for and downloaded BNS, it works fine but it has no timetable, so I checked user area and downloaded the 2015 timetable there, but its still not recognised by the sim. Can anyone help please?
I have folders dating back many years with lots of paid and donation sims, but cannot find where the BNS application file is, and therefore cannot move the WTT files to it. Having paid £30, surely it would be easier for people if the timetable was included the with the sim, it must be really difficult for beginners. The whole site seems to have got really user unfriendly over the last few years.
Thanks if anyone can point me in the right direction please.

All payware simulations ship with at least one timetable (Some ship with as many as 17).

All you need to do is download the SimSig Loader (https://www.SimSig.co.uk/File/Details/852) and install it. Open it, then press "Check for updates". It will automatically install every single donationware and payware simulation available on the loader (Which is nearly every simulation now) and the associated timetables, and other files needed. It really couldn't be easier.

By default simulations and timetables are stored in C:\Users\Public\Documents\SimSig.

Downloaded timetables for Birmingham New Street should go in C:\Users\Public\Documents\SimSig\Timetables\newstreet

Have you checked out this page of the Wiki. It give a run down on where sim and TT files should for both exe and loader formats. It includes the following information about adding additional timetables to loader sims:

"Download the .zip file. If you used the default location, copy the .WTT and (if included) .WTR files to the following location: C:\Users\Public\Documents\SimSig\Timetables\<simulation name>\ If you installed to a non-default location, please see the SimSig Loader page for details on custom installations."

Come back if it still doesn't work.

It can be unfriendly if you have not kept up to date with recent changes to Simsig.

We need to know what System your computer is running to access Simsig so as to identify your problems.

I still have difficulty. I downloaded 2 other sims today (Leeds NW and Leeds Ardsley) both worked fine through the Loader when I had updated it, but although New Street loads, there are no TTs supplied when I startup the sim.
I still cannot find the exe file (I am on Windows 10) for any of these.
I have tried to download direct from the Files Index and it won't download for some reason.
Strange that two of the three work fine, but not New Street!
Still persevering...

Panic over, by "merging" the timetable, it has been imported into the sim, and I have got it running. Thanks for your help guys.

That's not how you should be starting a timetable.

All of the downloading should be done through check for updates for the simulations and the default timetables. If check for updates is not installing all of the simulations available I suggest you redownload the system files (link in earlier post) and install it fresh. Then press check for updates.

There is no .exe file for loader simulations, the simulations are all launched through the loader.

Thanks Headshot, probably good advice, its a while since I downloaded system files, but I assumed the loader would self update. No harm in reinstalling.
To be honest, I probably need a tidy up of folders, over the years I have accumulated quite a lot of stuff in various guises.

Perhaps you are getting confused because the "new" SimSig doesn't use exe files for sims. In the current incarnation the loader exe file runs the SimSig code and all of the individual simulations are .sim files. Rather than starting from what you remember about SimSig, it might be better to pretend that you are a complete newcomer to SimSig and do a read-up on the Wiki before you get worried that things don't happen in the way that you remember them. It might also be good to consider that hundreds of people have downloaded the New Street sim and run the supplied TTs without problem so there may be something about your system set-up or the way that have run things that is not allowing you to see what others see.

Edit: Once again second in line behind Karl.
