Dublin has become alot cheaper in all aspects in the last year or so due to companies importing from the UK, and Irish prices dropping to keep business in the country so it is win win for all of us. £61 return ferry travel is even a reduction in price. When I worked in Irish Ferries it was €85 for sail/rail tickets so it was about £69. Another way you all could look is the Irish bus operator, Bus Eireann. They run eurolines services from most major UK cities to dublin. This would intale a bus trip to Hollyhead/Fishgaurd, then a sailing to Dublin/Roslare, Then back on the bus to Busaras, the main bus station in Dublin city centre. I just done a quick price check for bus Eireann. London - Dublin via Hollyhead/Dublin port, ecconomy class is €50 return, so about £35 - £40 return. This service leaves London @ 19:00 GMT, arrives in Hollyhead @ 01:00 GMT, depart Hollyhead @ 02:30 GMT, arrives Dublin port @ 05:30 GMT, arrives Dublin city centre @ 06:00 GMT. The return service departs Dublin city centre @ 13:00 GMT, arrives Dublin port @ 13:30 GMT, departs Dublin Port @ 14:30 GMT, arrives Hollyhead @ 17:30 GMT, arrives London @ 00:00 GMT. This is to give you an idea of trip lenght. There is a number of daily services from cities all over the UK. Log in to reply |

I'll be up for an Irish Meet gents! 40 miles up the road (rail and road!) for me. I'm tempted about the London meet in July.

Ferries to and from the Emerald Isle are fantastic - i've gone to Dublin a few times for day trips. Just as an example, here are the timings i'd use: 01:45 Arriva Trains Wales from Bangor, Gwynedd (Origin: Birmingham International at 22:55) 02:50 Irish Ferries from Holyhead arrives 05:55 (Dublin Bus Shuttle from/to Busaras) 20:55 Irish Ferries from Dublin arrives 00:20 (the next train is not for hours (ouch!)) 04:50 Virgin Trains from Holyhead arrives (Bangor) 05:16, London Euston 08:33 So yeah, apart from that bad return connection I'd be up for a Dublin Meet...
