I've just read a news article about the major disruption on South West trains caused by a set of defective points between Woking and Surbiton, which effectively closed the Up Fast, compounded by a signal failure near Earlsfield. In terms of the failures, Network Rail will dispatch fault teams to deal with them. In terms of the service, Train Running Control for the TOC(s), and Network Rail control will work to sort it all out.
