When you start a new timetable on Southampton, if you choose standard or difficult level, according to the dialogue you have to give yards advance warning of any freight train approaching.

Yet on the phone, place call, there are no entries to select to place the call.

Does this mean I've got corrupt system files somewhere, or does this not work in the current released version? (2.201) ?

It's not possible to phone the yards in Soton, you just send the train in

Thanks, so the description in the "new game" dialogue of

Quote:
Occasional track closures, temporary speed restrictions, and multiple failures. Frequent delays and disturbances.Notification is required by the yards of incoming trains, and they tell you about outgoing trains.
is left behind from a previous version? As its also described as such on the wiki, the latter also mentions ARS which I know is not available.

You have to click the 'SR' button to let a train enter the yard. And, ARS is indeed not provided.

That's interesting. Looking at the signalling diagram for Southampton it is shows the old paged version and you can see the ARS areas which show up as green buttons (although in the simulation they would be a fuscia-like colour as with all the other ARS simulations). It seems that whilst turning Southampton into a scrolly, the ARS was taken out (Can ARS areas/sub-areas even be included in a scrolly?) however the Wiki was not edited to show this fact.

Any views and / or opinions expressed by myself are from me personally and do not represent those of any company I either work for or am a consultant for.

i really dont think southampton needs ars, its just the right size i think even in busy periods its still manageable without being too easy, or too hard. i think its got it just right, the ability to call in on yards as suggested in the scenario would be good though, just to give it that little bit more.

however neither are essential for me, because for me it has the right balance, challenging and easy to use at the same time, one of my favorite sims.

Oh, I quite agree about ARS - any sim that has it I turn it off, it takes away the fun.
