Was thinking about this yesterday, what would anyone think to about having a woking SimSig? Even though it doesnt cover a large area the area is busy with some shunting moves and freight at woking. What does everyone think?

Actually sounds like quite a good idea. However I would have to ask if you could detail the area this would cover? I would make the immediate assumption that [consulting the "London & the South East" map] it covers from perhaps Byfleet & New Haw to maybe Farnborough (Main) / Aldershot (on the line towards Basingstoke and beyond) and Guildford (on the line towards Portsmouth) which sounds like a reasonable area of control however I wouldn't be surprised if I've totally over-shot the area of control. Still, I'd like to know either way.

Thanks.

Not Aldershot - up to the mech box at Ash Vale. Guildford is correct (well I assume so as there is a Guildford ASC!). Not sure about the rest.

It'd chain to Wimbledon at Berrylands, Basingstoke just short of Farnborough and Ash Dale Jn box as well as Guildford at Worplesdon.

Yeh thats right that they do all connect to them boxes. You would control the trains from addlestone - weybridge/byfleet and new haw from the feltham box which also the freight goes and comes from. I know during the rush hour alot of trains come through frequently and even outside the rush hour its still a busy service

I doubt we will see Wimbledon considering it has been done by TRESIM.

Unfortunately as zoe said TRESIM has already done a wimbledon area sim so unlikly we will have one. The woking psb though should provide enough interest on its own though with it controlling alot of the mainline with a yard at woking and plenty of mainline movements.

Still it is hard to deny that that woking would make a good simulation.

I remember Geoff saying somewhere - maybe in the old forum - that some kind of grandfather's rights apply to the Waterloo simulation, and it would be possible to extend it to the full area covered by Wimbledon ASC. I might be wrong, though...

EDIT: spelling corrected

Two million people attempt to use Birmingham's magnificent rail network every year, with just over a million of them managing to get further than Smethwick.

To The Wayback Machine!

(I will endeavour to edit this post with the outcome of my trip in that beast of a machine I've just name-checked).

EDITED TO ADD;

Cannot access actual posts/threads on the old forum, I can get as far as viewing the thread titles but cannot actually 'enter' the threads themselves to be able to read them

That would be good if the waterloo simulation would be able to be extended. The further you go from waterloo even just to staines, woking, dorking etc you also have level crossings and different branches would make for a even more challenging sim

I am all for Woking personally, and also wonder whether Basingstoke would have enough operating potential if it was also to cover some/all of the missing portion of Eastleigh panel as well?

(p.s. only 11 months of real signalling left )

Sorry guys, I am in the business of making people wait!

Basingstoke would also be a good one with the Reading line having XC, FGW and Freight entering into this area, aswell as barton mill sidings and basingstoke south sidings which the Basingstoke stoppers use in between services.
