can someone shed light on why some internet providers moble internet only show an internal ip address so you can not host.

This is because they run their entire service behind a gateway and allocate RFC 1918 (what SimSig calls "internal"addresses to their customers. It prevents customers doing real Internet things, like hosting servers.

No doubt they have a much more expensive service that gives you a public address.

If I remember correctly in Italy the first time the broad-band was provided by fasteweb, there was the same problem (every users have only a private IP behind a very big NAT). This made impossible to host games, but for some games it was found a way to make the connection possible. I will look to see if I can get some documentation about this system. Maybe it can be used in your case too.

O2 Broadband advised me , when I signed up , that I would require a fixed IP address ( rather than dynamic changing addresses ) at a higher per month subscription rate in order to host any games. I have not taken this up.
