Good Evening/Morning Ladies and Gentlemen I'm not exactly a beginner I mean i have played SimSig for a good few years but recently havent been able to keep playing. However i now have one of those fancy netbooks, with internet. There is one small issue, my crosshairs in the game itself are black. Now I'm sure you can imagine that's not very helpful. Does anyone know a fix for this or perhaps something is set up wrong Any help is greatly appreciated Regards Log in to reply |

Hi 755hometime! sorry you are having a problem with the cursor. I am sure this has been dealt with but unfortunately the old website went down and this one is slowly being resurrected from the ashes! (See the General Forum) Most of the old advice will be put back on but in the meantime if you can wait a few hours more I am sure one of those who knows the answer to your question will pop by. To help them - what operating system are you using? XP, Linux, Vista or is it an Apple? Best wishes, Ken Log in to reply |

Hi Ken I did wonder what had happened to the website when i came back to it and it was completely different. As its currently 1am i'm going to sleep and will check back tomorrow. It really is quite incredible what these guys have built up. I really want to give a networked game a go. oh and it's XP night Log in to reply |

Just out of interest, what sim is it you are playing that causes this problem and have you tried others to see if they exhibit the same? Taking John's response a little further, what you are most likely going to need is to alter the mouse pointer scheme. This is, as John has pointed out, under Control Panel->Mouse on the Pointers tab. Try setting it to the Windows black (system scheme). I think that should fix it. Log in to reply |

I'm playing the Southampton Sim, and as yet I havent tried other sims, this was early hours of the morning when I discovered this, but shall be doing some experimenting this evening. The pointers tab is an option I haven't tried, and shall definitely be doing so later on. Log in to reply |

Just to let you guys know that it was the mouse -> pointers option. I changed it to Windows black (system) as you suggested Lardybiker and the crosshairs are now black with a white background. Not what I had on the previous laptop, but just as good. Thanks everyone for your help Tim Log in to reply |

You are most welcome Tim. I have used SimSig on many XP machines and for the most part have no problems. However, a recent acquisition which runs XP had the same issue you described and I had to make the same fix. I'm going to post a bug to notify Geoff and see if we can narrow down the problem. Hi all, I have an interesting problem. Tried yesterday to download the Drain sim as an introduction to how the sims worked. Managed to load the system files and Help, but when I downloaded the sim itself my Norton security leapt into life and deleted it! Anyone had the same kind of snag? I thought about disabling the Norton, but as a newboy on my first system wasn't sure where to start. Any suggestions appreciated. Regards, Mal.

Mal, I've just tried this myself (running Norton 360 under Vista) and can't reproduce the problem. I would suggest having a look at your Norton settings and see what it is set to do with executables with an unknown publisher. Changing the setting from 'Automatically remove' to 'Ask me what to do', or some such, may get you round the problem. Regards, Nick Log in to reply |

Hi to nickp. many thanks for your quick reply on my download problem. After a bit of fishing, I turned off the bit of Norton that was blocking the download, and it seems to have worked.Turned it back on after the download and the sim is still there. I've loaded Peterborough as I know the area so we'll see how it goes (LOL).Thanks again, and regards, Mal.
