It's not something silly like having the wrong password saved in IE is it? I know I change some passwords every now and again and always forget to update them in the saved password list. Just a thought that's all...

Just so you know, I'm still trying to fix this. It would be so much easier if there was a discernible pattern to it.

Geoff I have just also had this problem of not being able to get onto the Sim Sig site. I was using IE8. I am not using FireFox.....or not as far as I am aware. I was a bit dubious about following the on screen instructions about wrong or incorrect user password but this seemed to be the onply option to get onto Sim Sig. Deleted the cookies as instructed as well as the History, tried again and hey presto here I am. Don't know if it had anything to do with it but wifie had just commandered the laptop to use Facebook and also went into the Tesco's site. Probably nothing to do with the problem...... Ditto Geoff's post - after moving a couple of weeks ago, installed Sky Broadband which started blocking Simsig (much to my wife's joy!). Deleted cookies and away we went! I use IE8 also

I use AOL, which I believe uses a disguised version of IE7/8. I too have this same problems. I have to run Ccleaner to cure the problem.

I use Firefox on a daily basis and never had this problem. Even our Wii, which uses a version of Opera has no trouble: I'm using it now.

Upgraded from FF 3.6.11 to 3.6.12 (running on XP machine) this week and had to reset the cookie. JG “In life, there is always someone out there, who won’t like you, for whatever reason, don’t let the insecurities in their lives affect yours.” – Rashida Rowe Log in to reply |

Agreed - it happened on my desktop after an upgrade (FF) last night, and now exactly the same has happened tonight on this netbook after a FF upgrade. The original text of the bad_login page also says the same thing (yes, I wrote it, but it came from somewhere which I don't recall). Both these two times I noticed that there were two session cookies (long hex number, or maybe an MD5 hash). I wonder if that is the cause? SimSig Boss Log in to reply |

Just had a try at FF 4.0 beta 7 and that required me to sign in again rather than showing the bad login page. No need to reset the cookie through the Tools menu to enter the site. I had the problem here with google chrome, not even an upgrade, although I believe Chrome does update itself without asking sometimes, so possibly it was updated recently.

I've had it many times: when Chrome updates itself, and when I've visited Simsig on another computer on the same IP (even without logging in). Now I don't use 'Remember me' when logging in: I don't get it anymore.

Off topic but users of IE 6/7/8 should be aware, if they are not already au fait with this nasty. http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/news/index.cfm?newsid=3247866 Log in to reply |

I've been getting redirected to the bad_login.html page as well, but it only happens if I tick the box to stay logged in it seems. I am running IE8 on Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and it happens when using both x86 (32 bit) and x64 versions of IE. I do not have Firefox installed at all.

Hi guys, This one baffles me! If I try to navigate to the Simsig site using my user account on the PC all I get is the bad login screen. If I try via the wifes user account on the same PC then get on with no problem. Even managed to sign in hence able to post on the forum!! I've cleared the one cookie marked Simsig, cleared history etc, but still same problem. Heres another twist - was sent a link via email for this topic on the forum, clicked it and it opened first time. Great I thought. Closed the window (by mistake) and back to where I started with the bad login screen!! Any ideas?? I'm running IE 8 on Windows 7. Log in to reply |

Did you check the keep me logged in option at some point. That seems to be the issue here as others have had problems with IE8 with the keep logged in box checked. You might want to try downloading the latest release of Firefox and use that instead (personally I don't trust IE as far as I can throw it anyway).

Chrome has only recently started this too... no big deal, just slightly annoying at times.

Every time Chrome has updated itself, or when I login on another computer on the same network / IP, I get this. As Chrome may sometimes update once a week, this is a bit annoying. Every time the browser agent changes, this data does not match with the codes in the cookies anymore. Most sites delete such a cookie, but Simsig keeps them saying it can't login because the cookie and browser agent don't match anymore. This happens also when you login on another location, because then the data in the cookie on the first computer is no longer valid. Again, the cookie should be deleted when invalid but Simsig.co.uk refuses to do. I guess this has something to do with the settings of Joomla. AJP in games Log in to reply |

Whenever I try to search for this problem, it's certainly common enough to Joomla - and a fair proportion of replies indicate that Virtuemart is installed. I'm going to disable this for the moment to see if that has any effect. If anybody here has been able to faithfully reproduce the error on demand then please clear your cookies and try again.

Odd... it seems I can disable the modules but they still work. It looks like I actually have to uninstall the thing. I won't do that until I have a replacement ready.

There is nothing wrong with IE8 as far as Simsig is concerned as long as you do not create unnecessary cookies like "keep logged in box checked". Certain cookies change with an upgrade.
