Hi all,

I have just finished my fictional 2009 summer timetable for Bristol, which sees Filton station closed and services diverted via Avonmouth, here is the description of the Timetable:

This is my first released Timetable for Bristol, so my apologies if there are any errors. Based on the time when Filton was closed for re-development, I have created this diversion TT due to engineering in the Filton area.

Most services will be terminating short and generally only FGW long distance and XC services will be diverted via Clifton.

Here is a breakdown of services included:

FGW (High Speed)
-----------------------------------

Paddington - Bristol/South Wales/South West are unaffected by the Filton Closure. Only the 04:40 BTM - Paddington and 22:30 Paddington to Cardiff are diverted via Avonmouth, along with ECS moves to Cheltenham Spa and Hereford. Most of the Cheltenham ECS HST's will come from Landore (Swansea) instead, due to the extra duration of diverting empty stock movements.

Some services will start and end at Weston-super-Mare in the peak hours, and one at mid-day. There is only 1 HST via Bristol to Penzance, and 2 on the return, the rest going the faster and more direct way via Westbury.

South Wales recieves the normal hourly saturday service of one train per hour in each way to and from Swansea. Following the discussion with the DfT, Fishguard HST's will only run on Monday to Friday, so there is no service on a Saturday...yet.

Swansea and Bristol now recieve much later services back to London for those wanting extra time at the city or more time to get to the city, arriving later into the capital.

*******************

FGW (Local)
------------------------

Most FGW units will be diverted via Avonmouth where paths are available. All Portsmouth - Cardiff services will be diverted and will additionally call at Patchway to drop off/pick up pilots. Taunton to Cardiff services will terminate at BTM and most weymouth services will end at BTM, some carrying on to Gloucester/Great Malvern. To cover the loss of Gloucester/Cardiff stoppers, hourly Gloucester to Cardiff shuttles every hour will be in operation.

Some diverted services will also call at Clifton Down and Avonmouth, mainly as they are waiting for a service to clear the single line so passengers can alight or join the service. An early and late night service will also serve all stations to Avonmouth when paths are free.

Pilning sees an improved service with a new bus service that is now in operation from the local areas to the station. This is actually an experiment from the local authority to encourage passengers to use the train. The bus links with services that call there. This will hopefully be succesful and should improve the station as it is currently isolated from nearby villages.

BTM to Severn beach services are replaced by busses throught the day to allow diverted services to use the line.

However some paths have been kept free mainly in case of delays and also gives the BAC a chance to use the taxiway level crossing. There could be a complete hourly Gloucester service squeezed in but I doubt the BAC would be able to even let a vehicle over the crossing!

FGW are also experimenting a Severn Beach to Portishead service, but of course today these will be starting at BTM, and run every two hours non stop to Portishead. If it was succesfull the service would be every hour, Of course the main obstacle is the token system at Ashton which is time consuming for the service.

FGW are also leasing a 67 set for a Weymouth diagram for extra seats. Another 67 set is running between Cardiff - Gloucester, which is usually used on Taunton services, due to a lack of units they have.

*******************

Arriva CrossCountry
--------------------------------------

AXC are running the usual hourly North - South cross country runs via Avonmouth. Some voyagers are paired to make 8, 9 or 10 cars. The XC HST sets will also be out along with a hired in NXEC set for the summer Nequay diagram.

Bristol to/from Newcastle services will not be running due to the lack of paths to be able to run on the single line diversion. Services are running from Newcastle every hour but will terminate at Gloucester instead.

*******************

South West Trains
-------------------------------------

SWT services are revised to run in between the revised FGW local services, but they are unaffected from being diverted. 5 services each way will be running, 1 to and from Salisbury, 4 to and from London Waterloo.

*******************

Freight
----------------

All freight to Portbury will not run due to the blockade, and freight trains from Westbury to South Wales are diverted via Swindon. The Avonmourh - Didcot coal services are unaffected.

For any comments/suggestions etc please see the thread for this TT in the Timetable Comments section

Hi all,

As you may have seen in the timetable download page, my 2009 fictional Timetable is now ready for downloading. You may post comments, errors etc in here.

Please note there will be a handful of timetable errors in the morning and in the evening to simulate errors made in WTT's. However if it is after 20:00 there shouldn't be any errors, and if there is, I would appreciate if you could let me know.

Thank you, and hope you enjoy the timetable :-)

James.

Thanks for the new TT James, thoroughly enjoying it at the moment.

Nice challenges added to the WTT too - I was feeling rather smug having used my own initiative rerouting the light engine going through BTM for Kingsland in the morning, only to block parts of the station in with my voyager movement into P1 moments later :-)

Well done.

Thank you, glad you are enjoying it :-)

You will find some areas you need to be there and ready when a train needs a path 1 minute after its cleared

Hope you like the long engineers train taking about 1000 signal blocks up lol

Great t/t so far James, only issue so far is 1V10 being too long for platform 1.

Got around the problem by re-timing 5V10 to 0705 ex Barton Hill, arriving in platform 3 at 0710 for 1V10 0720 to Paignton.Playing SimSig rather than playing with FGW HSTs would be a better way to spend my time, but thats life!!

Am enjoying this, only a couple of thoughts until 4:25.

1) 5Z63 (railtour Ecs) - suspect that this train would be kept in the sidings until much nearer the time of departure.

2) 6Z05/6 (Engineers Train) Could this have a 'must depart from x after y minutes rule inserted to actually keep it until the booked time at FAW and FJ. The ES on this site has had his gang work at super high speed as the train entered and left the work site within 20 seconds.

3) 8Zxx the early morning timetable (the bb Tamper) feel this should run to a 7Z02 or 7Z09 dependant on if it can or can not be relied on to operate track circuits, can never remember which way around these two are.

Cheers

Paul

thanks guys, paid off the past over 3 months over creating it, most the time it got stressful making it with trying to add diversions round to avonmouth line with no pre-planning of times!

I forgot to have a shortened voyager for 1V10, I apologize for that.

I hoped the errors would be fixed, shame theres errors I've left, I am sorry :-(

As for the balfour beatty tamper, I didn't know they would be class 7 rather than 8, I though 8 was for tampers no?

Thanks again, glad you like it, its the first I have made 2 before but got scrapped as they had way too many errors.

Had a religion of coming home from work each night and timetabling for a few hours lol!

thanks again! look out for another fictional timetable for the cross sim....:-)

According to my "expert" (an ex signalman), the class is entirely dependant on the maximum speed of the tamper.
It used to be *Z02 for reliable (to work T/C's) and *Z09 for not but that has recently been changed to 6J**. All machines can now be relied on to operate T/C's. Every On Track Machine now has it's own headcode for billing and track access charges.

If timetabling is now a religion, does that make Geoff the Lord High Priest and us his accolytes?

Driving earns the money. SimSig relaxes me after the driving. ERGO! SimSig helps pay the bills. SIMPLE!!!

Unreliable machines still do run as xZ09. These tend to be regulators (what ever they are). As has been mentioned, reliable tampers are normally 6Jxx and engineers trains 6Wxx. I think that some rail grinders may run as 8Zxx.

ahh that will explain the TOPS gen on engineers trains down here being 6Wxx Westbury to Devon, wales, reading, god knows where else.

I had no idea on the tampers, thank you for the info, I am sorry for the unrealistic headcode, so basically it would be 6Jxx weather actually tamping or moving to a site?

Taking of engineers, would HOBC (High Output Ballast Cleaner) or HORR (High Output Rail Replacement) sets count as a 6Wxx?

Just noticed driver_curran's note about 5Z63, sorry for taking long to respond!

5Z63 is actually a SEED, in reality the coaching stock sits there overnight from Friday after being pulled out of Barton Hill. The stock actually sits in the line by the up through but is ground frame operated so you can't put anything in there, so I used the up through line instead as an alternative.
