Hello all,

Has anyone tried using the yellow triangle at Willesden Junction Platform 1 by signal 22? I had a train wanting to come out of Platform 2 for the NLL, so I pathed a tube train from sig 24 -> 22, however this set the overlap across basically all the pointwork south of the station. So I pulled back the signal while I had a chance, and set the route to the yellow triangle...however this still locks the route out of platform 2.

Is this correct? I would have thought the overlap wouldn't reach far as doing so from 24 -> 22 yellow triangle requires a signal check anyway.


Sorry if this is not a bug, just thought I would report it in case.

Keep in mind that overlaps associated with trip arms are designed for trains passings signals at track speed and therefore would be very restrictive in the case of common point work.

I have successfully used the triangle. You set the conflicting route first (platform 2 to NLL) then signal 24 > 22. Initially 24 remains red until the approaching train has slowed enough then clears to allow that train into platform 1.

The OP isn't about how to use it, it's about the overlap that is used with the Warner Route.

The ROL allows trains to come off the line from Kensal HL Jn, while a train is routed into P1 - unfortunately there is not sufficient overlap to allow a train out of 2 while a train is routed into 1 - if you happen to go to Willesden Jn LL you'll see the pointwork is right on top of the signal, and no warner route would be safe for that move.

That overlap was surprising enough that I asked twice to confirm. It's definitely like that and, no, I don't understand why there isn't a swingeable overlap on to the branch. There's a couple of other unusual overlaps around as well.

Not been to WLL in recent times so un-sure of where sig 22 is placed.

Errrr, that doesn't seem possible. Followed that as you said, Platform 2 starter signal onto NLL ('Kensal Green Jn'then Signal 24 to Signal 22 and that won't set the route.


Anyway, whilst we're on the subject of Willesden Junction, shouldn't the station be called Willesden Junction Low Level?


Finally, I'll actually be in that area sometime next week so I'll grab a photo of Signal 22 to show you all.

In my day it was called Willesden New Station, so was the signalbox, although the bobby usually answered the phone with "New Line Box".

It's just "Willesden Junction" on the panel (and it's "Queens Park" there too- harking back to an earlier query).
