Found that the host (server) is not shown the reminders around the slots in the Lawley St Slots box, however all users are shown the yellow reminders.
I can however see when the slot is given.

Not sure if this is known or not.

Um... how did you get a reminder on there in the first place? They're not clickable. Do you have a saved game?

Not played the SY sim yet, but what you describe above cannot happen in real life so it must be a bug.

If the Saltley Signalman chooses to place a reminder on the appropriate panel button that is down to him, but there is no way the shunter at Lawley Street can do it for him.

I have a save so I will check but it happens all the time, when you request a slot the reminders appear around where you requested the slot until it is given. You can't do anything with it when its there other than it reminds you that you have called.

Its a good idea as its good to know you have made the call.

However issue is that the host can't see the reminders but all players can.

I shall find it for you tomorrow before I depart to the airport.

Isn't this a new feature for this simulation - and possibly future simulations too?!!

We just tried this tonight in the game

Daw Mill
Hams Hall

Both had yellow reminders once the call had been made only visible to the clients not the host
Slot granted was seen by all.

Except the host!!!

Assume that this is the same for all phone slots

I do not know. I have not personally seen Saltley as I was unable to go to the meet.

We were told a few weeks at the meet, so hopefully you will get to see it really soon.

Erm no, it's due to muggins causing a number overflow in the host->client messages (hence why you don't see it on the host).

ahh that would explain it, I know this is a little bit of a pain as most probably everyone asks, however I am new to the forums (not new to the site though)

I shall be patient until it is released.

I wouldn't hold your breath. Many of these sims only get an outing for a day and are never seen again.

Taking into consideration the amount of time that people put into making new sims whether in jest or not I think your comment was a bit underhanded Ray.

Most of the developers make the sims in their own time and also want to make sure things are right before they get released.

I am happy to wait as long as it takes to get a new sim.

"Many" implies quite a number. Perhaps you could list for those new to SimSig this substantial number of sims that have only had one outing and never been seen again>

"Many" seems to imply quite a substantial number. For those of us who are not up to speed on these matters, perhaps you could enlighten us all by giving a list of the sims within that substantial number. I've only got to 2 so far (which are both still in development) so I must have missed something somewhere.

Unfortunatly a few bugs were exposed with Saltley at the meet, still being worked on now. I am on holiday as of tomorrow for a week, on my return I will be putting the final touches to the sim then getting a public release out.

please remember that Saltley (and other sims) are produced by volenteers in our own time, as much as I would have loved to have had Saltley released by now unfortunatly 'real life' has been slowing me down. Also I would rarther delay the release and allow myself and my testers time to ensure that a robust sim is released, than release a buggy version.

I can assure you it will be along soon (yes soon, I am not going to give a date as anything could happen between then and now.

It's the law of SimSig for me - whenever I have free time, such as now when I'm unemployed before starting a new job, nothing new will be released.

However, when I start the new job, or as in the past, have some exams coming up, or will be on holiday, a sim will be released then

Based on years of not-so-scientific, but very grateful, research

Whilst I am totally aware that all these new sims are produced on a voluntary basis, I can never get over the obvious annoyance and frustration of being unable to participate in the trial run of a particular sim just because I live too far away from a meet or I elect not to attend a meet. I would rather have a level playing field so that all can get an equal share of what's on offer at any one time. Furthermore, it seems to me that far too much energy and effort is spent on organising meets for the amusement of a vocal few to the detriment of the many more who wait patiently for the next sim offering.

Ray, I see your point, and have often felt the same way myself! However the meets to appear to provide a lot of feedback to the developers, hence the delays.

I should also point out that as I attended the London meet and thus have copies of the demo'd sims; they weren't bundled with any WTTs so I can't actually use properly. Thus please don't feel as if you are missing out on this one; even those of us in London are waiting to try Saltley and Derby again!

Considering that the sims are supplied FOC I cannot really see your argument. If we were paying for the sims (whioch hopefully we never will other than donations  ) it would be a different matter and you could complain about level playing fields to your hearts content.

Also as has been mentioned most of the time there is no WTT issued at meets except for the host PC even people who go to the meets are unable to play the new sims until eneral release.

I myself was unable to attend the meet as I had double booked the weekend so have not had the pleasure of Saltley which as I live in the West Midlands is as near to a home sim as I will get.

People moaning about delays on sims or meets being arranged may cause developers not to bother making new sims if they feel that people are going to constantly criticise the length of time it takes for new sims to be made available. I myself have attended several meets and TBH a major part of it for me isn't the playing of new sims but the meeting of people that you talk to on multiplayer games.
