Within the last 20-minutes or so I have received word of what is currently understood to be an "engineering train" having derailed near Shirley, UK. Details are sketchy at present but I thought I would let people know about this. Hopefully will be able to provide further information as it comes through from the various news agencies. Until then, 'watch this space'.
Any views and / or opinions expressed by myself are from me personally and do not represent those of any company I either work for or am a consultant for.

Latest information received within the last 20 minutes or so is that the derailment is actually at or near Whitlocks End and not Shirley, although the former is the next station along from the latter so it may well be that the derailment is somewhere between the two. It is currently unclear how bad the derailment is. More as it comes in.

Latest update is that the line has already been cleared and I understand trains are now running normally.

Awesome, but also phew! Thankfully it's not my 666th post (666 = Devil!).
