Hello im planning a trip on monday the 15th and i would like to venture north for a nice change,i was just planning on grantham but it will cost me 44 pound to get there but for some reason newark is cheaper to get to, even though its further away. same as retford 40.20 return from thetford. grantham 44 pound return ?!?!?!? anyway ive settled for newark 31 pound return if the activity there is a bit of mix. not jsut 91's sprinters and hst's but if theres no variety maybe ill choose somewhere else :) any info would be appreciated thanks :) richard. You'll see a bit more if you come off the station and find somewhere where you can see both the ECML and the Nottingham - Lincoln line. Someone local can probably post about potential vantage points.

I'm in Lincoln and there's a road runs alongside the vicinity of the flat crossing at Newark. It's on a bridge so you would have a view of the crossing covering both the ECML and Lincoln/Nottingham line. Hope that helps.

What you could do is buy the ticket for Newark and get off the train at Grantham

retford has a low level position yourself on the southern end of the southbound main line platform and you get gbrf and dbs, freightliner coal and stuff to from Lincoln/immingham.

A number of readers of this Forum do not have English as their first language. English is a confusing language to learn at the best of times and is made even harder when entries are posted without punctuation or spell-checking. Can I please ask that posters follow the Forum Rules and Code of Conduct part of which states: 4) The normal language of these forums is English and users are requested to ensure that posts contain correct punctuation and spelling. Use of other languages is acceptable when used to assist anyone whose normal language is not English. If abbreviations are used, you should be fully prepared to explain what they mean in a polite manner if asked. Text-speak should be avoided because many users do not understand it. This is not having a go for the sake of it; it is a genuine request to assist the many followers of SimSig who are not at home with our language. “In life, there is always someone out there, who won’t like you, for whatever reason, don’t let the insecurities in their lives affect yours.” – Rashida Rowe Log in to reply |

Pedantically, the forum as referenced is a definite place and I am quite happy in those circumstances to capitalise. Next we discuss how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.

I have decided that newark is the place for me, doncaster is too expensive for me to get to. I think you still get a few freight there with intermodal services to the north east And it wont stretch my budget too much. ipswich i will pm you on sunday to let you know for defintate what time i will be there. but should be around the time ive allready sent you providing im not delayed. richard. Besides the information is already out there, it just saves collating all the data together. i could get hold of it anyway theres enough people i know that if i asked they would be able to help. Even on network rail website theres enough information available there about train id's and times etc you just need to know where to look. google searches bring this up. Log in to reply |
