Is this a bug or is this the way it would be on the real thing? Signal 2 at Woldingham has one or more lamps failed and is showing no aspect. Its banner repeater to the rear is still showing "off". I appreciate the main signal in the rear is "on" and trains will need to be talked past but I was wondering if the BR indication was correct. Had this happen at signal 1 on the down line as well. Sorry meant to post this in the Oxted section... Moderator - Moved Post has attachments. Log in to view them. Having not played Oxted can someone confirm whether the repeater changes when the next signal is at danger? For the record some types of signallers workstations don't show the BR lp or off. Some do A banner repeater should revert to 'on' when the next signal is no lamp proved. Log in to reply |

the banner repeaters show off when a yellow or green aspect is shown in advance, as per the real thing. they show red when the train passes the signal in advance, not when it passes the banner. the indication above is wrong and is a bug of sorts. personally im not too bothered about the repeaters, they make a nice decorativ touch but make little difference to my gameplay "We don't stop camborne wednesdays" Log in to reply |

I did come across another similar issue. I had the route set from Hurst Green through toward East Grinstead, well in advance of the next train. The main aspect showed green, as you would expect. The banner repeater stayed "on". Cancelling and reselecting the route, the banner came "off". As you say, they are a nice decorative touch more than anything: I was curious what the real world way of working with banner repeaters was as I wasn't sure. The real Oxted signaller has no indication of the status of the banner repeaters. What I can try to add is a test to the data so that in the event of a lamp failure the banner reverts to on. Please also see the main Oxted release thread regarding the route set and banner on. This will be investigated in due course. If the banners cause too much trouble they may well be removed in the next version. The timing of the banner returning to danger varies from banner to banner, those related to signals at or near the end of station platforms are more likely to remain off until the signal itself returns to danger. " said:they show red when the train passes the signal in advance, not when it passes the banner. The banner repeater before the signal at the end of the down relief platform at West Ealing (the one which controls movements onto the Greenford branch) returns to "danger" when a train passes it, and not the signal to which it applies. I know this because as I overtake a slower train in my HST on the down main I see it happening all the time. I'm waiting for this issue to come up in safety briefings so I can moan about it. Some do and some do not, both are allowed under the standards, and neither is a fault. HOWEVER, the picture above is a wrong side failure as with the lamp out the signal is effectively at danger and the banner should show on. Log in to reply |

" said:" said:Ah, have recreated it. Had originally only checked the BR at Upper Warlingham and that was fine. Loaded my latest save and indeed the Banner Repeater for Signal 21 at Hurst Green (Down Platform starter) has failed despite the signal it relates to being off. Have reloaded many-a-time and still failed. Guess work-around for now would be either a) Don't save game with related signal pulled off or b) Cancel and re-set the route." said:update to this, ive since realised this only applies to signals which are controlled, not automaticsi have also noticed that when i save, close and reopen the game, all the banners revert to the on positionI can't recreate that? Actually, whilst we're talking about banner repeaters and having mentioned Upper Warlingham - the one there on the Down Platform seems to have been misplaced to before the platform and not on the platform?!! Last time I was there I'm pretty certain it was actually on the platform itself and not before. Hasn't moved or something, has it? Really appreciate the effort you have (all) put into creating this nice sim for us! I love the Banner repeaters. The on that sticks 'on' for me is at Lingfield down and as that is an auto I cannot reset it. But that is not at all important. Log in to reply |

Agilchrist. Have used the default timetable with the developer scenerio on 10x speed to recreate the scenerio of a train on every signal between South Croydon and Hurst Green as per what appears to be the situation in the picture you have attached. The result of this test is that OD1BR works correctly and maintains itself at the on postion all the time that it should be. With the information I have available I sadly at this stage must declare this as a no fault found, If in the mean time any further information to allow me to recreate the possible bug then rest assured that I will attempt to recreate it using the new information that has come to light.
