http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/service_disruptions/sab4a08d98b0426e920388de891303ee/details.html - Interestingly, with a link to the same story linked to here.

Hearing about this has reminded me of this YouTube video.

The loco (working 4L89) caught fire on the Up Slow Line near Castlethorpe. The OHLE was isolated for around 3 hours or so while the fire service attended and tackled the fire. 57304 was sent to rescue the train, and drag it to Bletchley, where it was inspected. Once the fire was under control, the Fast Lines were re-opened with a 5mph speed restriction, with a full re-opening once 4L89 had been rescued.

4L89 eventually continued - 7 hours late at Watford when I last checked!

A pair of Pendolini were stuck in Platforms 5 & 6 at Milton Keynes for the whole time (as well as some trains on the Up Fast north of the blockage), complete with some very disgruntled passengers. Interestingly, an LM Class 350 was worked permissively into Platform 5 behind one of the 390s - the signaller instructed the driver of the 390 to draw up to the platform end signal so the 350 could clear the track circuit! It was certainly an interesting one to watch from the office window!

30777 was the culprit there Razzabazza123

30777 has been banned from running on the rails by Network Rail until it has been fixed; will have to go via road.

30777 is stood in the yard at newark northgate awaiting road transport to loughborough where the ash pan doors will be re-welded back together , The ash pan got clinker stuck which snapped part of the door off - causing red hot ash to fall down the line and cause fires.

Road move to Loughborough should be on Friday.

6 separate major fire sites, over 5,000 minutes of delay, and major chaos on the ECML last Friday!

God bless, Daniel Wilson
