Hi all, just a query, I'm about to pay for the Derby Meet, just checking if, when you pay you get a number or something to identify you when you get to the venue? First one I've been to and really looking forward to it. Thanks for any info.
Mal.

Cheers for that Chris, I'll have to make a note of the receipt details as I don't yet have a printer. Thanks again and look forward to being there.

And you'll get a badge with your name (or Forum Handle) on it when you check in at the door.

That'd be a bit strict if that really happened, especially considering that in my experience they're customized for the meet so it makes it a nice little souvenir of the day. In-fact, first meet I went to (Peterborough, March 2010) I was given the namebadge in a little plastic holder thing which I reused again for the next meet (London, July 2010).

Hi all, being ex-Forces I'm used to signing for things and having to give them back.
A little plastic holder thingy will do nicely - I've got quite a collection of those from various venues.
Hope to finally put a few faces to usernames.
Cheers,
Mal.

I had a suitcase full of them when I came back from Hong Kong last week.

I always return mine as I never ever remember it the next time, Im not as efficient as UKTM.

Last year some of us went to a Mexican restaurant around the corner from the Station Inn, then a few drinks at the latter and (I think) the Brunswick. If somebody who is coming can volunteer to be a point of contact then that would be useful - or have a timetable for the early evening such as between 6 and 7 at X.

a) I have to get the voyager home via Lichfield
b) It's mexican food...yuck

A group of us are coming up 'en bloc' Friday, ETA about 2pm, but not sure of Derby itinery yet. Watch this space maybe, but booked into Aston Court hotel.
I can only help one person a day. Today's not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look too good either.

For the record, I normally print off the badges on card blanks which I will be doing again for the Derby Meet. I also supply the plastic holders; these are gradually decreasing in number as we lose one or two at every meet. I would appreciate the holders being handed back at the end of the meet as I am mean enough not to want to buy a new box of holders just yet.

Unless things have changed since I was travelling for work a few years ago, I would recommend a pint across the road in the Midland Hotel (the old railway hotel). Not for the beer but to view the facilities in the Gents - they used to be a marvellous example of the Victorian plumber, tiler and glazier's art.

Suggest BYOD and meet on one of the station platforms at Derby then order Pizzas, Curries, Chinese, etc., for delivery.

But of-course not if it's too cold

If that is too cold then there is always Bubbles Spa and Massage across the road from the station, right under the windows of some of the Aston Court hotel rooms. Seems they offer a nice warm relaxing bath.

Myself and 37223 (Matt) will be in Derby on the Friday evening at 5pm ish, I have a meeting that day in Burton. So I would be interested in going for some food.
We are staying at The Stuart which I believe is right next to the Mexican "Pepitos"

Quick apology to organisers: I said when I booked I'd be able to bring a laptop, but unfortunately due to a late-breaking change to my travel plans I won't now be able to do that. Sorry.

I don't know of anything, despite several requests. Nobody volunteered to organise anything and I won't be there for another 80 minutes (currently somewhere dark on the MML).

I'd just like to say a big thank you on behalf of all who attended today (and possibly partly from those who didn't) to all those involved in organising the meet today. Whilst there were a few issues, on the whole I am sure I can speak for everyone that the meet was enjoyed by all, and a worthwhile event once more.

THANK YOU. See you all sometime in 2012 (depending on where and when the next meet is).

God bless, Daniel Wilson
