If the hacker can get in that tends to mean the server is insecure What is Geoff Doing about this problem? Log in to reply |

I have traced that 650 websites are on the same server in Studley, Warwickshire. SimSig is one of those, Geoff can't do much by himself as it isn't his own server. His provider should do it. Btw, an alternative URL to reach the site is: http://82.147.22.17/~SimSig/. AJP in games Log in to reply |

Geoff is doing what he can when he can but it appears to be a flaw in the software according to an email Geoff sent me last time. Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |

This has now been updated to the latest version but the change history does not mention the security flaw so I don't know if it's been fixed. For obvious reasons I won't say which component. As for Agora, I note that there has indeed been a newer release since 3.0.13 which is supposedly free. However, approximately 24 hours after I made a donation to Agora via their website, they'd announced that they had gone commercial - with a license fee which happened to match the donation. I'm in discussions with them as to whether your money pught to pay for the commercial license given the timeframe involved. SimSig Boss Log in to reply |

I am sure that if there are financial considerations to keep Simsig (Agora) free - or at least 'reasonably priced' then the amount of users/members now on board will assist in a few pence to compensate any extra charges. Geoff - do not be backward in coming forward in asking for donations. Users - take into consideration what PC Rail and others charge for just one sim. I rest my case.

I would step to phpBB instead of Agora for the forum. For using the same login on the site itself and phpBB I recommend using JFusion.

Oh, and I would happily do a good donation if you switched to another forum software, from an user point of view (ok, to be fair, my point of view) Agora is north worth paying for.
