Just a query, but are the banner repeaters at Warwick Parkway and Kings Norton (and any others I may not know about) going to be included in a future release?

they serve no useful purpose on the sim, so why would they be needed?

just a thought on ledgeros comment. can banner repeaters be made to fail? becuase if so and in driver rings in reporting XYZ showing an incorrect indication, then the signaller has to take appropriate action. PS. i know at the moment banner repeaters are effectively fancy bells and whistles that have no effect, im asking if its possible "We don't stop camborne wednesdays" Log in to reply |

" said:they serve no useful purpose on the sim, so why would they be needed? SimSig attempts to accurately depict a signalling area. They are not needed as such, but accuracy usually is considered very important by Geoff and the developers. However, I am led to believe by someone more in the know than me about Saltley, that they may not have been shown on the Panel, and therefore should not be shown on the sim, however will still have an effect on the signalling whether shown on the panel or not. " said:
Banner Repeaters can, and often do fail in real life. The most common failure is of course the lamp blowing, whereby an indicated banner repeater will show black on the panel. A banner which is present but not indicated will normally show the signal to which it applies as being out on the panel. In all cases the signal in rear will revert to red. Examples include LN35BR at Leamington Spa which is individually indicated on the WestCad workstation, and BS2R at Banbury which will show BS2 out in the Signalbox as it is not individually indicated. They can of course also fail to clear when the main signal does, which would normally be reported by a driver. Also it is possible for them to show off with the signal on, which is a Wrong Side Failure. This tends to occur more with electromechanical banners than with the modern fibre-optic or LED versions. It's also worth noting that until recently, it hasn't been possible to show banner repeaters in a sim anyway whether you wanted too or not.....

Didn't Derby given out at the London meet have a working banner?

Correct: The Meet version of Derby from London last year did indeed have working banner repeaters. As for the question of drivers calling in reporting wrong sequence of aspects, this is correct for Derby as they are interlinked, but cannot speak for the other simulations as they could well be just a display. Banners on Saltley panel are only shown as symbols on the panel, have no electronic interface with panel. hence not shown on sim Daz Log in to reply |
