No Modern Era TTs in Bristol v2.202 download? 08/12/2011 at 00:29 #24675 | |

Just noticed, when I went to try out Bristol v2.202 using a "Modern Era" TT as described in the manual, that no modern TTs appear to have been included, only two 1985 ones, yet the Options include either mode (a beginner might inadvertently select Modern to go with a 1985 TT). No big deal. Of course, I can grab them for myself at the User-Contributed TTs page. Unless there's a reason for not including one, I'd like to suggest that at least one be included. The problem is, there are so many appealing modern ones listed, which ones to select? Hmm, Bristol 2005 v3.31 EASY.zip looks about right for me! Log in to reply |

Has anyone played Bristol successfully with Modern Era selected, using a 1985 TT? The TT Description field doesn't say it can't be done, only "Use the 1980 Layout Option to get the most of this timetable."

I wouldn't ever suggest to anyone to use the modern era with the 1985 timetable, nor vice-versa. For starters, a lot changes on St Andrews workstation, plus many many other changes too. You may have a key loco (important loco) which enters from somewhere to join onto a train to haul it onwards, and if it can't enter then you're kinda screwed unless you know how to generate another one, and then you have to hope the depot or yard has one spare. Regarding the timetables included, I believe it is pretty much be up to the developer what they include as part of the simulation download. I also believe what often if not always happens is a timetable will be made for the simulation before it's released and bundled with it, leaving it up to users if they download extras. I'm currently relishing the "Summer Saturday 2008" timetable, which I think is just right for one person to handle solo (although not everyone may enjoy it as much). Any views and / or opinions expressed by myself are from me personally and do not represent those of any company I either work for or am a consultant for.
