reminds me of a fare dodger at doncaster. the guard pushed him off the 321, pressed the door closed button and kicked his feet clear of the doors, and gave the driver RA.

Saw this following a link in a Tweet on Twitter about 40 minutes ago. Didn't seem all that interesting until about 01:30 when it certainly did get interesting. I wouldn't suggest you jump to 01:30 straight away as you may not get the full story, so do watch it through from start to end. Made me laugh.

The ejected passenger was trying to avoid paying his fare so the Guard and another passenger removed him - and so they should too.

It doesn't at all surprise me when something like that happens. Think about it , your on your way home , tired , not in the mood for anything and then "BANG" , something like that happens. Its folk like that i've no time for. However the easy way is summons the BTP , however that causes delays (think of ECS workings , drivers do need to get home too!) Providing Blood isn't shed then as long as the person is off the train and its safe to depart , fine. I don't think anyone would bother with it as its better delayed a few minutes than up to an hour awaiting the BTP!! Log in to reply |

That happened at Warrington once but it wasn't as bad as that there was a bit of an argument but the person got off the train and started moaning on the platform luckily the train was only delayed by about 2 minutes.

Good on the guard for having such a helpful passenger to remove the disruptive passenger - However could not the traincrew requested local police attended to remove the disruptive passenger from the train?

You'd still have to wait for BTP/Normal Local Police to arrive which could take a while... Any Guards out there might be able to give a more informed opinion but in my mind, wait until you are getting quite delayed by calling for them, or arrange for them to meet you at a later calling point and hope the dodger doesn't get off first.

This can be very difficult for a conductor, as a former conductor Central Trains you can and should call for BT police where possible , but at an umanned station with no SB or signals you have to make a decision on the spot and sometimes there are not enough other passengers to help, so a good driver often can and will help.Calling local police can lead to very long delays as they often have no one in area. British Transport Police at my local station (PETERBOROUGH) could normally be of great help.Peterborough's my local station as well, ;) The fact that the BTP station at Peterborough is sited less then 5 minutes away for BTP to deal with any assistance means nothing as one of the local staff pointed out, they still need to ring the BTP in Birmingham to request assistance as they can't just ring across the road and ask directly. At my old station, I and others never bothered the BTP at all in that the locals (Herts Police) were always called first as they were always there in 5 minutes if that even on non urgent requests - the reason being is the BTP had further to travel coming from Kings Cross or Peterborough and it was easier to have the locals who were based in the town come out to assist. I wonder if the police have also considered a prosecution about the language that the fare didger actually used to the guard......probalby not. What is galling about this whole episode is that he the fare dodger will probably get away scot free (pardon the pun) and who knows knowing the present legal system that we have in the UK will probably get compensation for it all. Appears the Crown Office have seen sense http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-edinburgh-east-fife-16954147 Though it also looks like the fare dodger is getting off too. As I've said elsewhere all this mobile phone filming and posting on YouTube or wherever which are then trawled over by the law enforcement agencies looking for "indiscretions" is reminiscent of the GDR where friends, neighbours and even relations spied on and reported on each other to the Stasi. Common sense prevails at last however we have a case in SW London where a bloke (sorry sad drunken git) was ejected from a train and is now attempting to sue somebody for damages because he was on the last train and had to get a taxi home and wants his expenses paid for! Solution - shoot him, or is that a too right wing
