Toton Up Sidings & Shunter Complaints 11/12/2011 at 20:51 #24917

Hi All,

Unfortunately, I'm suffering from the Toton slots taking a long time to release - have about ten trains backed up across the junctions now! I understand this is known/part of the simulation, but when 'New Bank (1-5)' slot released, I sent 6D04 in as it was the first to arrive (and was the main cause of the blockage). However, upon entering the sidings, I got a phone call from the shunter telling me that they were not expecting a train to enter. Did I forget something/have I missed something?

Thanks,

Mark.

Did you phone them up asking them to let that train in before you requested the slot?

Sounds like you requested the slot for the wrong train.

You need to request the slot individually for each train in turn.

ie - request slot for first train, send it in and then request the slot for the second train.

Ah, that's what it is, thanks! Didn't realise I needed to use the telephone as well as requesting the slot.

I'm not really sure what you mean here, sorry. I've only sent one train in after the slot was granted (in fact I have the simulation paused at the moment and it still hasn't completed its move into the yard as yet).

When the shunter replies to the telephone call you will see "OK, we take the train on New Bank siding 7. Request the slot, and I give it when line is available." When you do it, a different siding may be quoted.

You should find that the slot is granted more quickly after phoning, too, although it can still take quite a while.

I made the silly mistake of waiting ages only to realise a shunting move was waiting to leave the sidings 3 or 4 trains backed up phones for each one still no slot then a light engine leaves then all slots given
