This is based on Oldman's Modern TT.

The extra elements are a complete revision of the Severn Beach line service, follwing the summer 2008 timetable, Mon-Fri with a much increased frequency of service and a new fictional (at the moment) hourly service to Portishead. The Portishead service is currently being actively campaigned for. If actually implemented there would have to be signalling and track upgrades bringing them up to higher standard than that shown in the current simulation, also suggested passing loops at Pill and the old Clifton Bridge station - so this fictional service has to run at freightline speeds in SimSig. I have managed to run it through twice - you need to be very careful to manage freight on the Portbury line, but there is space for one per hour.

Also check out the Bristol notes on the WIKI.

2k02 and 2k51 both scheduled for the same platform at Avonmouth, surely 2k02 needs to be extended to seven beach instead otherwise line would be blocked

I have now amended the timetable and made 2k02 continue to st andrews road and then 2k52 (its next service) to start from st andrews road.

Hi Etuk,

Thanks for this. I missed that, but discovered it a few days ago. I guess that that might be what happens in real life. The source TT on the First GW site does not indicate that 2K02 runs to Severn Beach, but there is in fact time for it to do so.

I have altered that - and a few other things in v1.1 which I am about to post

Good question. I copied that from Oldman's Modern TT. I will adjust that in the next update, which may take some time as I plan to include 2008 summer workings from the actual published TTs.

Of course it might be possible in a parallel universe :-)

Oh look - I've got promotion! Do I get any more money?

5E27 Barton to Bristol plat 3 appears 5 minutes too early as 2B54 is on plat 4 and departs at 0630 and needs to travel through plat 3 to go where it going, if you route 5E27 into plat 3 you will block 2B54.

Hi, you can leave 5E27 waiting in Barton Hill. It is timetabled to arrive at Platform 3 at 06:33, 2B54 departs at 06:30 and 1E27, which is formed from 5E27, departs at 06:58 so there is plenty of time.

1C60 is supposed to simulate a late running train that stables for the night, if you stick around for the midnight shift you will see the train run on time.

5F25 ex SPM TMD A @ 0430 and 5L22 ex SPM TMD A @ 0545 do not enter. Have run it twice on Hotwellian TT 1.0 and 1.1. How do I fix these.

Without looking at the TT myself, I would assume that either they have a non-100% probably of running, or that their entry point isn't defined correctly.

they are only meant to run 50% of the time, therefore, they won't always appear.

Remove tick in Special Timing Pattern box. They should run then.
The 50% box is NOT ticked so train will run 100% of time.

Indeed yes, remove the tick in the special timing box - I'm not sure why that was left in.

Indeed yes, as has been pointed out elsewhere by Kurtds

The timetable has not bee adjusted to be 'perfect', it incorporates errors that existed in the original working timetables.

On the day, it is up the signaller to reroute as required to resolve conflicts, bearing in mind they need to inform the relief driver. (Or at least pretend they do)

I did find the portbuty metros are always late at Ashton holding up freight due to impossible timings.

I'm finding timetabling my own Severn Beach services are hard trying to get passing times right at Clifton/Avonmoith and not colide with trains at Stapleton Road!

You need to hold up freights either at TN down through or at Ashton Junction until the even number 2Pxx train has cleared Ashton Junction crossing more or less on the hour. Don't leave the crossing barriers down, start the lower barriers sequence again otherwise you will lose points for prolonged delay to road users. The only viable path for freights during metro running hours is at about xx:02 whether from Portbury or Ashton

I have removed a few freights in v2.1 to make life easier and it works as long as you authorise trains to proceed to get a token as soon as possible, circa xx:43/44

The Severn Beach timetable I have used in the Modern Bristol is the actual Summer 2008 one and that works fairly well.

Hi, I'm probably doing something wrong (especially as no-one else has mentioned this!), but I'll proceed...

Using version 1.1 (I see mention of a V2 above but can't find a download) in the modern era (again I assume from the description that this is the correct mode).

1B94 comes from bath, round Dr Days into BPW. It says it should go into P1, which doesn't exist in the modern era. So I put it into P3 and get points deducted for "wrong platform". (I even tried editing the train details before it appeared, to tell it to go to P3, but still got told off!)

Only a minor thing, I'm enjoying running this sim (now I'm used to the scrolly interface) - I do hope we get trains on the Portishead line for real one day ...

You will get knocked off for any correct platform at BPW, just a current bug that should be fixed, I just ignore it anyway doesn't really matter.

I too hope the portishead services get the go ahead, though would take alot of work!

Thanks for your reply - I won't worry then... (It didn't look good, as the second passenger service of the day, 50% wrong platform...)

Its taking me a while to complete, have to play in real time, there's so much to keep an eye on... Very addictive though!
