I can speak a bit French and translate some Wiki pages, if some admin adds a language option to the Wiki.
@ Pacalou: I do not know of this being said in English, but it is clear what you mean.

I have created as an experiment, a French translation (by Babel Fish) of this page: Routesetting

J'ai créé comme expérience, une traduction française (par Babelfish) de cette page: Routesetting

Geoff: Having created the page in French, WIKI then gave the option of translating it back into English. Maybe there is a WIKI option somewhere to allow translation English-French to be turned on?

This translate option is not given by Wiki, it comes from your browser. You could let Google translate the webpage automatically.

By the way, I have already edited your Babelfish translation a bit.

Albert, thank you, please tidy up whatever you find. I've also done the next page, which should be linked from that one.

Si vous avez quelque questions je vais essayer de répondre en français.
je suis anglais mais j'ai une maison ancienne en Charente et parceque tous mes voisines sont français (naturellement) c'est nécessaire que je parle français.

If you have some questions I will try to reply in French........

Hi Geoff (The Boss)

Could the website be setup to use "Translate using Live Search" in IE8?

I don't know, but if it's what I think it is, it'll only work for those with IE8 anyway. Even IE users only account for about 60% of the traffic on this site, probably far fewer with IE8.

In an ideal world with lots of time and resources, dokuwiki could be set up with en, fr, it, hu sections etc with the appropriate pages translated.

It can be set up to use Google Translate. That works for every browser, not just IE8.
The counter of my website says that 53% of the visitors use IE 8. The total number of IE users is 60%, so 8 is by far the most used version (9 is already in beta...).

IE9 will not work with XP. Only Vista or higher.

I should have checked my facts first... Firefox is currently the most popular browser for this website, and I myself have IE8 (don't use it directly so I hadn't noticed it was V8 rather than V7).

The Wiki now has a separate section for various translations of the Wiki. While this will never be a complete manual, it may at least get foreign language users a head start. If you speak non-English languages natively (and I don't mean using Google Translate) then please contribute at:
http://www.SimSig.co.uk/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=translations

Thanks.
