How wide is that? In Hong Kong we have the widest gap of more than one feet ("University" station on the East Rail Line)

That station is really curved so the gap is wide too.

Someone suggest installing APG (Automatic Platform Gates) but I don't think they help. ("Someone" are actually stupid persons)
Somebody suggest installing Platform Gap Fillers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Platform_gap_filler) but experiments shows that they cause serious delay which increases headway and isn't quite acceptable in Hong Kong.
