How wide is that? In Hong Kong we have the widest gap of more than one feet ("University" station on the East Rail Line) http://orientaldaily.on.cc/cnt/news/20111216/00176_035.html http://news.backchina.com/viewnews-155014-big5.html (These are Chinese sites, but you only need the pictures) That station is really curved so the gap is wide too. Someone suggest installing APG (Automatic Platform Gates) but I don't think they help. ("Someone" are actually stupid persons) Somebody suggest installing Platform Gap Fillers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Platform_gap_filler) but experiments shows that they cause serious delay which increases headway and isn't quite acceptable in Hong Kong.
