Thanks to whoever conceived & coded the absolute block working that appeared on Worksop... absolutely brilliant. Now I wonder if we could extend it just a little? How about a text section below each set of block indicators (same as panel operator indications, although we might need more than 4 characters), linked to the corresponding section at the next box. Left click on a blank box either allows direct entry or brings up an input window (as per headcode insertion); either way a code can then be input (3-1 or 3-3-2 or whatever) and appears at the remote end. Left click when a code is shown repeats that code back to the sending box (ack by repetition). Right click when a code is shown brings up the input box where code is not being acknowledged by repetition (e.g. responding to an Is Line Clear code with 3-5-5) and of course the box who sent the original ILC can then ack 3-5-5 with a left click. Codes remain displayed for a few seconds, or disappear at the next left click (but only if they've been acknowledged). Of course we could then get really clever and arrange it so sounds are repeated according to the numbers in the code, with dashes automatically producing a silence. If anyone's up for this, Simsig meets could be about to get a lot noisier  Log in to reply |

Another way is to have the block messages added to F3 messages and add the appropiate sound. Barry Barry, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Log in to reply |

Certainly could, but if there's a facility to input bell codes separately that's an awful lot of block messages. Even more so if local codes are included (2-2-2 or 2-2-4 as alternative "train on line" signals, for routing purposes, for example). The original 1972 "Apple Green" has 58 standard bell codes (not including the alternative TES's above). Then there were alternative B, C and D codes for the various "Is Line Clear"s (17 X 3, an additional 51 codes); these were "standard" routing codes for complex areas (and would probably be initiated by an alternative TES, although that would be specified in the signalbox special instructions (the Block Card). I know of at least 7 further routing codes. I can think of 3 or 4 more codes used for local purposes (Kensington used local codes for shunts between the boxes, for example). That's quite a list of messages to create & code, quite a list of bell signals to record, and if you want several different bell sounds so each "instrument" sounds different.... Log in to reply |

OK we're thinking of different things... I was indeed thinking about the (possibly quite distant) future. Log in to reply |

When using PCRail's, heritage series, sims, there is a drop down menu for ILC for (class) 1 to 0 trains. Then, there is TES and TOS. This would suffice for most people.
