Had a train stuck at P984 Fish Dock Road when sigs would not clear because of 'crossing blocked by vehicle'. Having cleared the route I was still getting 'warnings' i.e. penalties until I raised the barriers and then lowered them again (after about 5 minutes expecting the vehicle to be removed by whatever means) but still the warnings appeared. A bit unfair I think as I had done all that was expected of me and to say that I was causing 'an excessive delay to road users' was a bit rich seeing that it was a vehicle that was causing the problem! Looks like you've cancel the route but not raised the barriers to allow the blocking vehicle to move out of the way.

Doh! possibly another late night/early morning aberation lol - but I'm sure I did that and still would not clear for quite a considerable time - presume there's a minimum time limit set in which us mortals can only guess at and have to keep trying until the 'system' allows trains to pass again.

Steve Northroad had a similar problem on Worksop (here). To clear a vehicle out of a blocked crossing with no time delays (random or otherwise) beyond the normal raise and lower cycles of the LC, you need to carry out the following steps: 1) Cancel signal (no ACOA penalty as the signal is red until you have cleared the crossing) 2) Raise the barriers 3) Lower the barriers 4) Clear the crossing 5) Re-signal. “In life, there is always someone out there, who won’t like you, for whatever reason, don’t let the insecurities in their lives affect yours.” – Rashida Rowe Log in to reply |

There are no time restrictions or anything else on "crossing blocked". All you have to do is raise the barriers and the car will drive away. Nothing special holds the barriers down but, as others have said, you have to make sure that there's no route set that might hold them.

Hi, I am having the same 'crossing blocked by vehicle' problem at Appleby (South Humberside) but with auto lowering of barriers on, I do not seem to be able to raise the barrier. The routes over the crossing are Clear, RAI and AUT are black, LWR is white, and CLR is flashing.Clicking on RAI just makes the light go out for a moment. It is 1:41 in the morning and I have 6 freights waiting to go to Thorne Junction. Any Ideas? Log in to reply |

Under normal circumstances once you have cancelled the routes, you should be able to raise the barriers to clear the obstruction. However, there is an unforeseen consequence with autolower active, if the conditions to lower the crossing are still true, you can't raise the barriers to clear the crossing. This is a known problem and has been adressed in the upcoming update,

I've noticed a problem with the LC at Northorpe. It will not auto-raise inspite of the Auto button being ON.I think this problem has not been reported previously.Probably because it is on a light section. Khalid. Log in to reply |

Thanks to Lardybiker for the information which confirmed my suspicions. I will have to start again without auto lower.

Can I bring this one back into the frame please. I'm continuing to have this problem - with auto lower switched on, the only way I've found to move the train [at Appleby for example], on is to instruct it to pass signal at danger - a bit ironic [and dangerous] seeing as I know that the line is blocked! Of course there is the option of removing the train, but the thought of that sends shivers. I understand that the new update was going to fix it, however I'm updated to the system files from July and still have the issue. Is there anything else that I can do?

Steve System files and the sim file are two different animals. Geoff Mayo has explained here what the system files contain. The level crossing bug is in the South Humberside code and will be corrected (as will the other problems noted in this section of the Forum) when the sim is re-released. Steve, Changing the system files will have no affect on any existing sim. The updated system files allows the devs to us some different screen elements but this will only be in sims that are released that use the new screen elements. The actual functionality of an existing sim is otherwise not affected by the system files in any way. This is true for South Humberside or any sim for that matter. All sim operation and functionality is contained within the sim itself. Until the South Humberside sim update is released (which isn't far away now), you'll just have to do what you have done already. Ah, I see. Thanks for the response, now I understand. Looking forward to the update - SimSig is the worst application I know for chewing up my time like nothing else. If only it wasn't so good, perhaps I'd get some other work done.
