I've heard some rumours about Floyd Zrt. (the company which owns some Class 86s already) would buy a Class 55 for its fleet. Is it true, or somebody has enough spare time to dream?

They have apparently bought 2 or 3 56s for Hungary, with the possibility of more later (numbers from memory).

You can put your shotgun back in the cupboard.

"Passengers for New Lane, should be seated in the rear coach of the train " - Opinions are my own and not those of my employer

Looks like there is a complete roll reversal in respect of traction & rolling stock in this country. All the modern freight locos are American/Canadian built these days. The former BR traction has now gone aboad into Europe. Transfesa in Spain have bought 7 Cl.58s, as well as former BR AC locos working in Hungary with more going. Although I'm led to believe the drivers in Hungary quite like the Cl.86 & Cl.87s. There are a number of Cl.58s working in the Netherlands. New units are built by Hitachi, although a smaller number still being built in Derby. I wonder how the Hungarians will manage when the Cl.56s start slipping under wet rail conditions. That'll prove quite interesting. I suppose one good thing is that there are going to be more Cl.60s re-instated as the Cl.66 availability is beginning to falter.

So they bought some Class 56, not 55 (anyway, I'm completely with you to stay all the Deltics at their homeland, but someone asked me whether it is true or false).

Thank you all! :)

@ 58050: Oh, and don't forget the Class 37s in Spain!

Edit: I've found the numbers: 56101, 115 and 117.

Pretty soon it will be a case of 'If you want to see British built locos working on the mainline go to Europe'. Whilst I would rather see former BR traction units running on the mainline as opposed to preserved railways, it looks like some people will have to travel a long way to record them in action. Better that than going to the scrap yard.

You're right, but on the other hand, now I don't have to fly to the UK to see some BR loco, as now they're coming here. However, I see your point of keep them running at their home.
