Does the switching of runs (train descriptions) between trains with different set consists and types affect the playing of a sim?

Broadly no, but subject to things like the motive power source for the train (i.e. you can't switch things and send an electric train down a non-electrified route, for example). Don't forget that the change will follow the set through as many "Next Workings" as show in the TT so it may be more than just a one-off change.

The other thing to bear in mind, TOCs, drivers, and all the other train staff won't be very happy if you swap services that are operated by other TOCs. An example of that is if you swap a paignton to exmouth service with an paignton to waterloo service. Even thouh they are both DMUs, the first would probably be a class 142 or 143, limited to 75 mph, and operated by first great western. The latter would be a class 158 or 159 which is limited to 90 mph and operated by south west trains Log in to reply The following user said thank you: postal |

This, of course, is what Control (aka The Brains) is there to do. How much it can (legitimately) be done depends on era (all British Rail or lots of TOCs), compatibility of stock (anything would couple to anything on the old Log in to reply |
