Examining the line with a station call 21/02/2012 at 20:28 #29773 | |

I've noticed this on various sims, but I'm fairly sure I haven't seen anybody else bring it up, apologies if I'm wrong. When a train is examining the line, it calls in at the next signal to report in. When the section being examined includes a booked station call, the train will stop at the platform, carry out station duties, await dispatch, draw up to the signal, stop again and report in. BUT if the platform starter is at danger, the train isn't allowed to draw up to it, and so sits at the platform "waiting for right-away". Is this normal, or would a driver go and call in while the train is at the station? If the signal in advance of the failure is already at danger I usually don't clear it until the train has called in, because it will obviously be moving much slower than usual and I don't want to block other routes. But if there's no TRTS indicator I have to keep an eye on the Train List to find out whether it's still examining or is waiting for me to set the route. Log in to reply |

I would expect in reality, if the signal was an actual platform starter (at the end of the platform), the driver would go and call in whilst awaiting station duties to be completed, as in most cases (excluding DOO trains) the driver doesn't really have much else to do, or so I've gathered/assumed.
