Merehead Quarry signals 27/03/2012 at 19:58 #30960

Hello all,

I'm planning out a signal map for a Wessex MainLines route for MSTS that a team of us are making, and since we only have the Southern signalling map and not a Western region one, we don't have the exact signalling types and positions. Since I am the one most interested in signalling, I am the one compiling a home made signalling diagram using a combo of SimSig, Google Maps and the Westbury to Weymouth cab ride.

However, I notice on the Cab Ride that Frome starter W214 has a small route indicator theatre box above the shunt signal, this would be for either Somerset DS or Down SDG however since these are hardly in use (and maybe disconnected now) I would never know what the box would show.

As it's a route for an era up from 2000, we are leaving the sidings in but the route box would be included. Does anyone by chance know what the letters in this box would show and if you would be able to tell me please?

Your help would be appreciated

Thank you,

James.

James,

The routes from W214 are:

Station Yard - position light (shunt) signal + "SY"
Down Frame - Main aspect (next signal W216)
Dock Siding - Position light signal + "DS"

You can see a copy of the re-signalling notice at the Signalling notices website which also has some of the other Westbury re-signalling notices.

W214 has even featured in the "Guess the Location" thread.

Hope this helps.

Peter.

Hello Peter,

Thank you very much for that, it was very useful! I honestly did not know about that website either, so that was a help for Westbury too.

Just on the final part on Merehead now, hence a change of topic, as the previous one is solved. My final two signals before it's complete needs some confirmations:

1. Signal W369 at Whites Crossing Siding (departures siding), I believe this would have a feather when the route is set left and main aspect showing to W271, and Position light when routed back into the Quarry departure line? Or, is it main aspect only when routed out to W271?

2. There is another route box at signal W230, however that website does not have a plan for Merehead area unfortunately. I have been on the Merehead shuttle in 2008 and the Angel of Belam railtour this year, however I seem to re-call the box showing 'CR' (with position light), is that correct?
I don't know what the Whites Crossing Siding lettering is, but I assume 'WC' 'WS' 'CS' or something?

Again, any help even just small info, is much appreciated!

Thank you once again Peter, you are a star!

Thank you,

James.
