Google Chrome issue? 31/03/2012 at 21:55 #31109

Hello,

On Chrome, I have always used the remember button so it logged me in automatically, but now I can't access SimSig on Chrome as it just says

'Username or password is incorrect. Please use the back button on your browser to try again.'

So, it said to clear cookies, and under the 'Clear Browsing Data' tab, I checked empty cache, delete cookies and clear saved passwords, however I'm still getting the incorrect message come up. So at the moment, I'm using Firefox as it works here, but I use Chrome for browsing other sites as I don't really like the slow Firefox, but at least it's a backup for viewing SimSig!

Has anyone else had this problem and is there something else I need to do?

Any help is appreciated!

Cheers,

James.

I've got Chrome v18.0.1025.142 running on XP. When I get to "Clear Browsing Data", I see a drop-down defaulting to "the last 4 weeks". This has options for the last hour/day/week or "the beginning of time". If there is anything similar on your system, have you cleared right back to year zero?

So it does!

How did I not see that at all before! Just set it to the beginning of time, and sure enough I can log into SimSig now, as I now type this on Chrome and not have to see Firefox again for a while!

Thank you very much Postal

I'm sure this has been discussed on the forum before, so someone will probably have a more complete answer than me- just wanted to suggest an alternative solution that works for me, and avoids clearing your entire browsing history.

Instead of using the 'Clear browsing data...' button, use the 'Content Settings...' button. Then under the first section (Cookies), click the 'All Cookies and Site Data...' button. You can then search something like 'Simsig' in the search bar. Select the filtered row and a grey bar appears with a cross on the right hand side. By clicking this cross, cookies relating to Simsig are deleted, whilst the rest of your browsing history is maintained. You should then be able to log in to Simsig as normal.

Hopefully this might be useful for future reference.

Ben

For my twopenorth, useful info on this thread as I recently started using Chrome, which is brilliant. Haven't so far had any problems logging into any sims.

The answer to this is to not be auto logged in.

Save the details in the boxes by all means and just click log in each time if you want to be as time efficient as possible

I'm using the same version of Chrome and have the same issue whenever Chrome goes through an update.

The way that Ben86 has said works for me

Does anyone know if this issue persists with the new version of the website software?
