ask a silly question perhaps but older timetables are split (mostly) into passenger and parcels, freight, conditional, and mandatory the first two are obvious but what are conditional and mandatory services? i can only assume mandatory are required by law eg parleys and perhaps conditional are runs as required? anyone care to enlighten me? To clarify Mandatory & Conditional WTTs, it's in the name:- Mandatory are booked WTT services that are booked to run on the days specified. Conditional are trains booked to run under certain conditions such as traffic demands or as required. Irrespective as to whether they are Passenger, Parcels, freight or light engines.
