I'm almost certain that there is no route allowed from ST17/ST18 to ST42, however you can set from those signals to the LOS signal to the left of the station on the Down line. This happens on other Sims- try setting main signal-to-shunt signal routes at Taunton and Totnes on Exeter, for example.

I assume the signal you're trying to set to Temple Mills is ST44, in which case there is no pointwork to allow such a move- the trackwork to the immediate left of ST46 is a switch diamond, not two sets of points.

I don't know if this has already been picked up on the NNL Beta or whether it is unknown, but when harringay request a slot, the message came up as Harringay (ECML) slow has been requested
Its happened more than once, so i'm guessing more likely to be a simple typo. everyone else requests or gives a slot, just harringay prefers a slow

Am I overlooking something, or are there really no timetable locations for reversing east of South Tottenham, via ST45?
Other than that, I've also noticed that Acton Central LC seems to have auto lowering, which I guess will be quite useful once passenger traffic starts running.

Two million people attempt to use Birmingham's magnificent rail network every year, with just over a million of them managing to get further than Smethwick.

It's a bit difficult to do a full set of Era's, as the NLL had a number of different layouts over the last few years. You *could* start with the old junction to Broad Street and follow on with the numerous changes until 2009. At this point Stratford low-level to North Woolwich was closed and the new Stratford High-Level bay platforms were opened. Then there was an extended closure of the No.1 lines between Dalston and Camden, then the re-signalling of Harringey Park Jn from AB into the TCB of South Tottenham, then the complete closure from Gospel Oak to Stratford for 4 months, and then the temporary signalling in that area. Eventually there was the latest re-signalling from Willesden to Stratford resulting in the closure of those and the intermediate boxes. Added to these is the proposed re-signalling of Bollo Lane (where the wiring is condemned) and Kew East (which gets too little traffic to be financially viable) to move them into Acton Wells Jn, and the eventually expected shift of the West end of the line into Upminster IECC, and one quickly realises just how many ears would need programming into the sim. Yes, some could be done by scenarios (the closures specifically), but there are still enough eras to make this rather complicated.

I think it depends on how much data could be found, and how much time it is worth spending on one Sim that (at the moment, mostly) works instead of working on other projects - perhaps even new ones!

I guess that if you want to do it you could create 3 scenario's. 80sh mode, with a still connected Broad Street. A 90sh mode, with broad street gone, but with the connection to Woolwich still in place and a 2010ish mode, where the line to woolwich is gone, and the re-signalling+electrification work has been done.

If you go back 30 years it gets even better! 4 tracks all the way through from Western Junction to Camden Road (not to mention the Broad Street line, which didn't close until 1987 or so). Between Camden Rd & Western Jc was absolute block with full track circuiting and IBs both in advance and in rear, I no longer recall whether 'twas 3- or 4-aspect signals but I do recall you could restroke levers behind trains and clear back as soon as the relevant tracks cleared without so much as seeing the train let alone the tail lamp! No turnback siding at Willesden Jc but a rather more complex layout at Kensal Green Jc (where the turnback siding now is), which also had its own 'box. Holloway had both up and down loops and there was a box at Junction Road (the first one I signed). The lines from Acton Wells to South West Sidings were goods lines worked (IIRC) as sidings (not even No-block) but saw relatively little use (they had previously been signalled goods lines as far as Old Oak Jc, halfway to High Level Jc, but that was abolished in the mid-70s). The West London Line would be worth including, with a connection from North Pole Jc to Old Oak (now buried under the erstwhile Eurostar depot) and 2 boxes at Kensington (AKA "Stopem Junction"), with Permissive block on the middle roads, a fully reversible platform loop on the west (down) side and the north west bays signalled to full passenger standards, including FPLs everywhere that allowed the shunting of trains conveying passengers just about everywhere (and we did).

Lot of work if anybody's game. And a lot of fun to work, with freight a lot more prevalent than passenger.

I have cheated a few times on Simsig and one of my more resent cheats has been with SIAM. They released a sim based on the NLL in 1930. It doesn't really have anything to do with signalling, it is more based on the logistics of the line. (you do move trains, but you set them from track section to track section, not from signal to signal).
The really interesting part is (aside from having to refill the steam engines with water and coal) is that the freight yards of Poplar are included in the sim and you will have to shunt the car loads around the harbour there.

There used to be through workings to Broad Street from the Great Northern (Kings X Suburban Lines) in the 70's but I believe they ceased around the same time as the widened lines to Moorgate if not before ?

The train ID do not step on the Down Cricklewood Curve from the train approaching berth to DH15 and have to be manually inputted.

I don't intend to do the more recent changes as they are so significantly different. NLL has always been a bit of a hybrid with various things included from over the years.

That's right... in fact they ceased when the present Finsbury Pk - Moorgate connection opened and the whole GN suburban service was sent that way. I don't know, but I have a suspicion that's when Dalston Jc box (the one south of the platforms on the Broad St lines) closed, probably also when the 4 tracks south of Western Junction were reduced to 2 (certainly makes sense in that I'm not aware of any connection from the No. 1 to No. 2 lines that trains off the GN could've used between Canonbury Jc and western Jc).

Irrelevant factoid: the GN - Broad St services were actually the remnant of a LMS (originally North London Railway) service. When the connection was made at Canonbury the GNR asked for running powers into Broad St; the NLR refused, the matter ended up in the hands of m'learned friends and eventually the court not only refused the GNR's application, but rubbed it in by giving the NLR rights to run services over the GNR instead! So LMS trains ran out over the GN Main Line right through beyond nationalisation; it was only nearer the end that the Broad St service was provided by GN traction (Cravens DMUs).

the panel for harringay is indicated as Harringay GL (presumably green lane) shouldnt it be harringay PJ (park junction) as is the name of the actual box

The station is called Harringay Green Lane. The signal box [before its demolition in 2010-ish] was called Harringay Park Jn.

Glad to see this out there. The old scrolly beta was probably my favorite SimSig for a long time, other than having lots of annoying bugs that would ruin your day within an hour or two... This version seems better, at least at an early test. I just love the complexity of the layout and the variety of services here. Also can be pretty unforgiving due to the lack of passing sidings...

I've always kinda wondered why the electrified line is single tracked between Canonbury East Jn and Barnsbury Jn is single tracked...creates a real choke point. Looking at in satelite photos, looks like that section might be quad track now? Hard to tell what's mainline and what's siding.

ELL services now use the platforms shown in the sim and NLL services now use the AC lines (which are now doubled)?

Has the connection from Finsbury Park been retained ?. I am planning a trip to have a look along the ELL and NLL this year since everything has been modernised and altered recently

Indeed it has - or, more accurately, it has been reinstated... it spent several months out of use with a large stack of track panels on the trackbed, during the hiatus between remodelling and final commissioning of the new signalling system.

Hi folks,

Just at the start of the Oct 2009 TT and am trying to signal 5H80 from Stratford HL into Temple Mills Yard ARR/DEP. It says a slot is required, so duly have requested it. Five minutes later and it's still flashing... Is this a bug, or just the shunter being elsewhere?

The Temple Mills slots tend to take longer to be given than the ones to other signalboxes.
