With the emergency replacement of signal SH2 I tried to hold a train at South Hampstead but the train just departed and ignored the red signal. Is this a bug? I can email a save-game if that's helpful.

off the top of my head, the New Lines signalling system allows drivers to pass red signals slowly after waiting a certain amount of time. Thus if you have a points failure at Camden Junction, they sure can stack up  Quote: there was a need to recover from failures, which the design assumed were most likely to be track circuit failures. Therefore, when a train came to a stop signal showing red, after one minute - and if the overlap was clear - the train stop would lower and the marker light would change to a small yellow. The train could then proceed cautiously, with the driver looking out for obstructions or, of course, another train ahead of him. In this way the train could reach a repeater showing red. If so, the driver had to wait another minute, then sound the whistle and continue towards the stop signal (there were no train stops at repeaters).from clive's web site on the subject of New Lines signalling. Basically, it's complicated. :S Last edited: 26/05/2012 at 11:18 by guidomcc Log in to reply |

I remember back in the early eighties when I was a Driver on the Bakerloo Line an accident occurred at Kensal Green where a driver of a (then) BR train mistook the small marker light for a yellow aspect and (beacuse he was not paying correct attention) drove into the back of a Bakerloo train waiting at Kensal Gree Up home signal. No one killed thankfully!
