I would like to moan about the constant logouts I get whilst using the forum, i spend about 15 minutes writing an email about Edinburgh issues only to find that when I posted it had logged me out and the post never made it. I find that in the past months I find that my login time is not as long as it used to be, and I have to login again and again. Before anybody passes any smart comments, this DOES not happen on other sites, this does happen on Firefox on 3 machines, IE9 was also used on 2 of these and it happens on machines and in both browsers, Yes it could be the browsers as these have recently been updated but its ony happening on the Simsig site. Nowadays its noticable as there are far fewer people mentioned as being logged in when you look at the list, it used to list many people and I used to be able to stay on all day as long as the browser was open, but that is no more. Any thoughts on this ? Blessed are the true believers, for only they shall walk the Path, and they shall be welcomed unto the realm of the Ori and made as one with Them. Log in to reply |

The only comment I can make is that I am on IE9 and it stays logged in ok. Is there a max number of logins that IE9 can remember perhaps?

There was a default 15 minute logout if there was no activity (typing doesn't count). I've upped it to 45 minutes; much more isn't recommended. The time has not, until now, changed. Personally I type longer posts offline and paste the text when done. Websites in general have a habit of losing things, more so the more effort went into them! SimSig Boss Log in to reply |

I think your problem needs to be addressed to your ISP. Barry Barry, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Log in to reply |

Since increasing the time out the problems have simply gone away now. Nothing to do with the settings on the browser either, it simply seemed to have an issue with the inactivity time out being so short. Thank you to Geoff.
