I just though why don't we on SimSig have our own photo-gallery. There's plenty of them about on 'facebook' etc etc. I also thought it would also make a good reference library to timetable writers so they can see what sort of trains were running in various areas during certain eras. Also the 'dves' could use the photos as splash screens. With regards to slam door stock I'll post them when I scan them. I've got more than 1,000 photos to scan so it make take a bit of time. I can't be the only one on SimSig who has gone around taking photos, so come on the rest of you, whats stopping you?

56055 comes off the Lincoln line at Wrawby Junction on 270996 working 6D96 1609 COY Welton BP - Immingham Reception. This was the only loaded oil train that went into Immingham whereas all the others were hauling discharged tanks.

shoeboxes 73134+73126 backing onto the Oxcroft - Ridjam Dock MGR in Cricklewood Recess Sdgs on 120986. Photo taken from the cab of a Cl.56 I was on also taking a loaded MGR train from Cricklewood Recess to Northfleet Blue Circle Cement Works. The 2 EDs would run on there diesel engines from Cricklewood to Chiswick where they would then transfer to their DC traction current supply. Considering between them they would only produce 1,200HP they were still able to haul a 36 set of loaded MGR wagons. Bedford men used to book on duty at 2226 to work 7O30 to Northfleet, relieving a Toton driver at Bedford & it was always a race to get passed Brent Curve Junction before 7O34 Oxcroft - Ridham Dock came out of Cricklewood Recess or else we would end up following it all the way to Northfleet.

This was a very rare sight as I was working on a northbound MGR from Cricklewood - Toton I saw 73005 in Finedon Yard, Wellingborough on 120387. I had to get a photo of this as I couldn't quite believe my eyes. The ED had gone LE to Derby Litchurch Lane to collect a Southern Region unit & to take it back to Strawberry Hill depot. However 73005 failed on its retrun & is pictured here awaiting assistance. Assist finally came later in the shape of 73004 & I remember seeing them heading south on the Up Fast through Bedford after we'd returned from Toton.

58002 'Daw Mill Colliery' & 58046 'Asfordby Mine' stand at Edinburgh Waverley on Saturday 21st September, 1996 with the return leg of 'The Worksop Aberdonian' 1Z58 Aberdeen - Worksop charter signalling the end of Mainline Freight as the company was bought by Wisconsin Central along with Loadhaul & Transrail to form EWS along with RES. One of the best charters I'd ever been on. I rode in the front cab of 58046 all the way back froim Edinburgh to Retford.

Interested in seeing some photos on the Brighton Main Line from the early 80's if you happen to have any?

Also, I doubt your the only one but mind I am 25, I don't have photos from the 70's, 80's or 90's

I accept what you say Underwood, but I don't have any photos since I left the railways in 2005, I don't even have any photos of Cl.66s etc etc. But no one said this thread is only for photos of the 1970s, 1980s or 1990s. I could post some superb photos I've got on CD taken by Roger & Paul Dalton around Bescot marshalling yard in the 1960s & 1970s including hydraulics at Bescot. That said it would be nice for other people to post stuff as well. Or are people too embarassed to show pictures of the modern era, cos there seems to be far more people playing modern era timetables than hertiage. Something I'm keen to reverse.
:woohoo:

60024 on 6B33 Theale - Robeston empty tanks. This had 24 MURCO TEA's in tow, this is an average load too, and can be a couple of tanks short or a couple more added on.
It used to be double headed Class 66's, but the set was shortened so that the 66 could actually move it! It had a short stint of Class 59 haulage but now is pretty much a solid Class 60 turn.
