 20902 stabled on the weed killing train in front of the former Midland Railway warehouse at a location known today as 'Jowett Sidings' where the new sidings to stable 12 car EMUs have been created. However back in 1989 when this photo was taken were sidings where the overhead wiring train & other departmental traffic would be stabled. In fact behind the Cl.20 you can see the overhead wiring train. The Midland railway warehouse was used as a base for the OLE train. Post has attachments. Log in to view them.  This is another view of the same sidings at Bedford shown in the previous photo. This time taken from the buffer stops shows exhibits 97403 'Ixion'+97201+31970 to the left & 56094 a Cl.121 DPU being placed for the forth-coming Bedford rail Fest in June 1988. The line on which Ixion is standing was the line normally used for the stabling of the OLE train. On the left hand side of the Midland railway warehouse were 2 more sidings where parcels vans were stabled for the loading & unloading of mail & parcels as the Bedford Post Office sorting Depot was next to where those sidings were.  47224 working 6E69 1526 SX COY Langley Oil Terminal - Humber oil Refinery passes Pavenham between Bedford North Junction & Sharnbrook Junction on 280488. This photo was probably the best picture I had ever taken of a train as I was using a 300mil zoom lens on maximum & not only did I keep it in focus, but managed to capture the whole of the train as well.  47644 'The Permanent Way Institution' going round Chester triangle to turn the train on 061086. I caught this train at Crewe bound for Liverpool Lime Street on this particular Sunday & due to engineering work the train departed Chester towards Hooton & then reversed back round the other side of the triangle onto the Holyhead line & then went forward through Chester station via Mickle Trafford Junction & Frodsham Junction & re joined the line to Liverpool Lime Street at Runcorn.  D5583 or 31165 'Stratford Major Depot' at the 1991 London Bridge Open Day. During the late 1980s & early 1990s I was a member of the Cl.31 preservation group & I asked the chairman of the group who at that time worked at London bridge if he wanted me to arrange for this loco to be sent as an exhibit as it had just been named & at that time I was senior Traction controller at Liverpool Street control it wouldn't be too difficult to sort out. With a Hither Green driver who still signed Cl.31s. Here the loco is stabled next to the Cl.31 preservation group stand for the open day. This picture is for you Joe(jc92) as he likes PEDS.
