Can any one help with how to use the Covdata on Liverpool Street? I gather that you can convert the wtt timetable to a text file , but then how do you convert back? Or is this sim too old to use this tool on? I seem to have placed the covdata in every location that I can find but then seem to have an issue running it from the command promt page as well. The error message from the command promt is the following; " 'covdata' is not recognised as an internal or external command, operable program or hatch file. " ?? Trying to get this to work as reading through the covdata and having a go at using it should make it easier to write the 2012 timetable I am trying to do for this sim ! Ste Log in to reply |

Unless you renamed it, it's called "convdata"

I have in C:/windows Best plan is to use the option within f4 of any recent Sim - does not need to be the Sim to which the timetable relates. I expect there is an instruction on the WIKI somewhere. I understand now, so I do not have to try and access it via the timetable edit menu in the Liverpool Street sim, I can open any of the sims and access the wtt and the text file for the Liverpool Street sim via the edit menu for that sim. Thank you for the help. Log in to reply |

I have had a go at using a test timetable and by using the Liverpool Lime Street exporter I was able to convert my timetable to a text and then back to a SimSig timetable. Problem is now when I try to run the timetable on the Liverpool Street sim, I just get an error message? "Error loading C\Program Files (x86)\ SimSig\LivSt\Test 2012 v1.WTT" Does any one understand where I might be going wrong? Log in to reply |

There'll be a load of nonsense characters but check that there is a SIMSIGT2 (I think) within the first couple of characters. OTOH, if it looks like plain text then it wasn't converted! I have just checked and the item you said was not there. So I have just redone by using the default timetable and after copy and pasting I have just tried it again but get the same message? The converter does give me a positive message that the file have been converted.

Just some more info. I have just converted the default timetable to a notepad file and then converted back. I even tried saving the notepad file in the sim folder but still got the same error message.

I have just done some tests myself with all of the possible options for convdata (using -i -c -k) and none of them seem to work for me either. I would say that the Liverpool Street sim may well be too old for convdata to work on it. I noticed that the version of convdata available on Clive's website was made in January 2012, whereas the default timetable for Liverpool Street has November 2000 in its date stamp. It could well be that the current version of convdata is incompatible with the Liverpool Street sim.

Convdata will work on any WTT file regardless of sim or age of sim. Firstly have you downloaded convdata. Secondly is it in the same folder as the sim you are trying to run it from. Providing you have satisfied both of those criteria then it will work. Just make sure you put the .wtt file in the top box and .txt in the bottom box

(EDIT: I have just realised you were referring to the converter built into some simulations - I should have read the previous posts a little more closely. I apologise. In any event, the same results are obtained as with using the command prompt.) I tried to replicate what I believe woodruff did by issuing the following commands at the prompt: convdata.exe -C "Winter 1998-9 timetable (morning).WTT" test.txt In both cases I get the confirmation that the "Conversion completed successfully." When I try to load the test.WTT timetable from within the simulator, I get the error that woodruff mentioned (in my case: "Error loading C:\Games\SimSig\LivSt\test.WTT"). As mentioned before, I get the same results when using the -i and/or -k options in the convdata command. Last edited: 13/10/2012 at 15:25 by Gwasanaethau Reason: New information Log in to reply |

Actually, I've got a feeling LivSt - being so old - might have used the original timetable format and would thus not be compatible with ConvData. I can't check right now but if you opened the original timetable supplied with the sim in Notepad, the SIMSIGT2 would be SIMSIGTT instead, I think.

SIMSIGT2 Just tried again with a copy of the tt supplied with the sim and when I ckecked the "SIMSIGT2" is there,[ pasted above]. The files are being converted both ways but will still not run. I tried changing the files by using another sim, [ North London this time instead of Lime street as I thought as this is a beta version this may have been the issue] but no joy. Not sure if the issue may be to do with the sim being 16 bit? Thanks for the help any way, it looks like I am going to have to do it the old fashioned way, for this sim. Log in to reply |

Yes it is London Liverpool Street that does not accept the tt, [ I was using Liverpool Lime Street to change the text to a sim file]. Just thought I would ask is there an old copy of the convdata that could be made available just for use on this sim? Log in to reply |

Thank you for the file BarryM but still got the same issue, aka , when you actually go to run the timetable it sends back an error message. I will just have to use the built in timetable editor. Log in to reply |
