Shoutbox problem 26/10/2012 at 12:53 #36926

Just a quick note to say there is a bit of a mixup with the shoutbox taking over bits of the screen on my browser (Chrome on Win7).

I note there is a link in the shoutbox so that may be it but just pointing it out.

Edit. Thanks to whoever moved it into the right forum...Sorry....!!

Happens on my Chrome too... And just tested IE9 this happens too. Just fiddled with the inspector but didn't find any possible cause yet.

The cause is definitely the link (hxxps://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/European_Summer_Time) that Josie posted. Word warp isn't handling it quite well. Also the Kide Shoutbox doesn't change links surrounded with brackets into the `<<link>>` anchor.

Have deleted Josie's shout, seems to have resolved the display issue - ie fixed the symptom, but not the fault.

deleted text for info:
According to the Wikipedia article on European Summer Time (https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/European_Summer_Time) all EU countries have had the same transition date since 1996. It's usually a week or two out in the United States though, putting Europe one hour closer to the US until their clocks go back.

I can only help one person a day. Today's not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look too good either.

Just check this question on StackOverflow.com, should fix the problem if another extremely long link appears.

But I would expect Kide Shoutbox to convert the link to a short text, which it fails to do when the link is surrounded by brackets, so in my point of view the author of Kide Shoutbox should be asked to fix the bug.

I've updated the component since it was a few months out of date, but the problem still exists.

Yeah, I noticed that my link failed to wrap/be turned into a clickable link, presumably because of the brackets. Sorry!

How can you change the colour of the Messinger's Name displayed back to what it was before the problem?
