Note that us "steampunks" are refurbing and will be installing a Westinghouse miniature lever frame of this type at Kingscote SB, to control that station plus East Grinstead.

Which Box - the main one at the north end of the station or the little groundframe with a roof on at the south? Log in to reply |

Well the knee frame (as we prefer to call it!)has been somewhat overshadowed by the addition of 8 panel switches operating additional signals and points. Relevant track circuiting has also been extended as you would expect. Not bad for a garden shed signal box. At some future date the traditional box on the N end of the down platform will supersede the "temporary" south box. The Westinghouse frame will avoid the need to lock the box mechanically. This upgrade will not be required until EG is signalled and as a responsible Bluebell member I would not speculate on when that might be!!

yeah - they hope to have the first railtour in March/April (cant remember exact date). But how do they get the token for trains FROM EG to the southern signal box, and then back to a train heading TO EG...

The Railtour is 28 March and long sold out. The northern sb will operate as a remote token exchange for the time being, for the (few) trains crossing at Kingscote, worked by authorised stn. personnel under the supervision of the Kingscote signalman. The Railtour will require a token to be taken by road to East Grinstead. Mod: Should this be in a new thread?? Log in to reply |

The hourly service is ruled out by the extension, which adds about 20 mins to the round trip. An hour and a quarter service is mooted, with a 9:30 earlier train from the Park to provide a better connection at Grinstead.
