Hi all

Does anyone know if/when Settle and Armathwaite boxes are open to have a look around?

All N.R. signal boxes are Private. (It used to be Rule 72a, in old rule books).

However, Settle Station signal box does open to the public. See http://www.settle-carlisle.co.uk/explore-the-line/stations/settle/ for contact details.
Just remember, this is the Station 'box, not the current Junction one.

Smash the window and let yourself in; an emergency, unwritten rule, if one forgets your keys.

Umm, are there any specific rules other than the sunglasses for proper approach a high-visibility signal box?

Um, I can't see any contact info on that page.

Looking around the Web, all I can find is that the two boxes have been preserved by Friends of the S&C and have been restored as visitor attractions, but no times are given.

Thanks for the link. Settle Station is open every Saturday or by special arrangement if anyone else is interested.
