Interesting that the Moorgate line is in the 'wrong' location as per the simulation and real life!

Like the way all the signalers are just getting pushed out of the way as they walk around the panel!

Cheers for that Andrew G - very interesting to see. Am I to assume the blues on the panel are pesky autos, turned on? " said: Interesting that the Moorgate line is in the 'wrong' location as per the simulation and real life!I believe that the KX sim's current public release is quite old now (not a dig at the developer!); something like 2006(?) if I'm not mistaken(?). I believe the current scrolly version was simply just a refresh from the paged to the scrolly so it is possible that the arrangement with the Moorgate lines was within certain confines when the paged sim was made, so as a refresh the layout was (pages/"Views" were) probably just 'joined-up' to make it a continuous scrolly. Quietly looking forward to an update in the future though, hopefully with things added like some missing banner repeaters, Platform 0 at KGX, and Hitchin Flyover being a few items of interest (at least to me, anyway). The end buttons for a route. I believe there are 2 of them behind each other, whereby the first button will overwrite the content of the last berth and the 2nd button places the description of the incoming train in the first empty berth. This to facilitate coupling or double docking trains.

I note that KX only has one (visible) TD berth, which might explain why on this site http://www.opentraintimes.com/maps/signalling/KX/1 there is only ever the outer Berth with a TD in it. P.S. is it possible to get this to display on a Mobile phone? Tried it on my wife's (an HTC) and it does not work. Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |

It works on an iphone - some of the drivers were using it to find their trains last week after the messroom screes went down!

Not sure what white lights you're referring to, but the buttons above Kings Cross station are the IPS (Individual Point Switches) which are used for manually swinging points.

I think they're point controls. The lights display the position, the switch underneath is so that the signaller can move and hold the points in a certain position (the equivalent of left/right clicking a point end in SimSig), but they're normally left in the vertical position so that the points are controlled by setting a route. There's a better picture here from Westbury. EDIT: John posted while I was typing. Unlike the Simulator, the signaller on Panel 1 must enter every headcode manually that intends to depart Kings Cross. The signaller can enter the HC prior to the inward stock arriving, if this is done then the headcode is entered, the white button is then pressed. This will enable the departing headcode to NOT be overwritten when the inward bound HC arrives.

As answered below, the switches on the top of the panel are Indicidual point switches, enabling each set of points to be set manually. The lights simply indicate which position each sets of point lie in
