Is there anything more official than this? I've had a look at Midlands Trains web site and a search on NR's site revealed nothing. I don't fancy traipsing across there to find out it's a wind-up.

Previous Saturday there's an open day at the Hitchin Flyover which was officially advertised.

I think Peter's point was that one would expect the event to be advertised by NR or one of the TOCs, not Eventbrite (which I've never heard of).

Admittedly the timing is about right, since it is very imminently closing. That and Northampton are/were the last black holes in the Rugby SCC from just north of Watford North Junction to Trent Valley.

Exactly, it appears I could quite easily create an open-day event for GCHQ if I was so minded and tout tickets on this site. I was looking for something more concrete before I signed up. It does seem a bit ad-hoc with no timed entry or anything like that so it could be a bit of a melee.

Anyway, I've signed up - thanks to Panpantom.

It doesn't say that the box is operational in that post

I think that's why it's a turn-up when you like free-for-all. For Hitchin flyover you have to book slots and last time (in November) it was groups of 10 at a time.

Quite possibly but you're in a better position to know than I! That's why I was hedging my bets on are/were .

That's not copyright material is it?

I've temporarily hidden the message awaiting confirmation - appears to be a scan of a Modern Railways article from Feb 2013. I have previously obtained permission from MR to reproduce (the then quite old) KX 1977 modernisation article. Can you confirm you have permission?

Peter, the article was available to download. I in no way wish to be in breach of any copyright and apologize unreservedly if that is the case, just thought it was of interest.

Rich

It came from this website www.signallingsolutions.com

Presumably because it is now closed and therefore resigned to the history books.

No problem, I've made it a link to the place to download just to avoid any uncertainty.

I guess it's walking distance of the station, does anyone have directions though from the railway station?

The old PSB is easily visible from the station, off the London end of the Down Fast platform. Turn left out of the station entrance (don't go down station approach first) and it's just a few yards.

I've heard of and personally used Eventbrite twice so far as an attendee - National Rail Enquiries (ATOC) use it when they're holding Focus Groups in various locations around the country.

Any views and / or opinions expressed by myself are from me personally and do not represent those of any company I either work for or am a consultant for.
