Giving up smoking, the SimSig aid! 02/07/2013 at 23:15 #46275

Hello all,

Since Asda have started stocking e-cigarettes, I've purchased a pack and am on day 2 of giving up the real ones. I have wondered what these vapour ciggies are like, and they are actually good, feels like you have had a real one but on the plus side it doesn't stink my flat, I don't leave ash everywhere, no lighters required and of course can smoke on some trains and stations (as I've seen online, my local operator , FGW, accepts these on any trains and stations).

On the plus side, that's about £20 saved on tobacco pouches each month (minus the cost of papers/lighters) which leads me onto the SimSig Aid.

I don't aim to ever return to ciggies, so from now each month I will donate to SimSig each month, which will probably be to different simulations each month and probably a general one too.

I'm not telling anyone else to stop, you can do what you like, but to those who are really determined to stop, then I really would suggest rechargable electric ciggies. Maybe you too could turn tobacco money into SimSig donation money like myself (not saying you have to of course, just to clarify!)

Long live SimSig, and long gone tobacco!

James.

It's a spoof site, but they do often poke fun at people who are inclined to believe the ridiculous/impossible!

If you don't realise it's a spoof though the articles are generally written in a believable style and context.

I thought it wasn't real as the tag at the bottom said 'spoof' :P

As for the Coach, I am aware that some companies do not allow it anyway like National Express for instance so that's fair enough. So far FGW seem fine with it though apparently you will be asked what you are doing, but it's pretty simple to explain that it's not real, with tect on the side, unscrew-able carton 'what is the butt on a real ciggie) and cold 'ash' that doesn't fall off!

I see that Chiltern Trains don't accept it anywhere, though I 'Think' TfL has allowed it on the Underground providing fellow passengers are comfortable with it can't see why not, it's not smoke). Unsure if that is actually the case still or not...

Not sure how much longer for FGW though!

Heard revenue inspector on FCC yesterday advising a passenger that they are now banned on all FCC trains and stations.

Not sure on the validity of his statement but if they are banned on one part of First Group then no doubt the rest will follow. If it hasn't already.

I'd recommend the robo-fags to anyone wanting to give up the real weed. They helped me (smoked small cigars for 10 years), my missus (fags for 43 years) and one of my collegues (rollies for 51 years) kick our habits with no problems whatsoever. Absolutely marvellous things.

Yes and they are easy to wind down on too, I've gone from missing a whole morning without a vapour e-cig to a whole week!

The smell when walking past a station entrance with smokers outside smacks me in the face like a brick wall, you just don't know the smell when I was smoking until you give up, rancid!

Payday has been and gone last Friday, so I have officially started it, and spent the £10 I would have spent on 2 x £5 donations for a Western sim.
