Tonight is scheduled to be the last day for Trent PSB, along with Sneinton Crossing, Netherfield Jn and Rectory Jn.

Netherfield and Rectory have a couple of weeks left yet - the plan is (or was) to maintain a service into Nottingham from the Netherfield end (under SLW regs I think) throughout most of the blockade, apart from the period when the new signalling's being commissioned east of Nottingham.

According to a Facebook post I read last night, all signalling equipment at Trent was signed out of use at 2335, with the box abolished at 0015 today.

I've been looking around for some pics of the box interior, but can't find any. Anyone got any?

I have said before that I have some inside pictures of signalboxes (obtained using a visitor permit in East Anglia back in 2011) but, despite my large archives, I have no interior box pictures from the Nottingham area. Sorry not to be of help here.

A couple of shots from today at Nottingham showing TT279 switched off (as they all were)

This had gone by the evening.

The gantry at the west end of Nottingham being dismantled with the old searchlights on the ground.

If you search for 'Trent PSB' in Flickr, you'll find some images. I was fortunate to be able to visit Trent at the end of June, and here are just a few of my images -

Most of the panel was out of use and covered over by this date. However, the technician's panel in the relay room still showed the full layout, although only part of it was in actually illuminated and in use -

For those of you that are interested, I noticed platforms 3 and 4 are now devoid of tracks, and also large sections of track between Basford and Hucknall have also been lifted on the Robin Hood line

A curious feature of the new signalling is this

right angled co-acting signal at the end of platform 2.Presumably when drivers at right against the signal.

I saw this earlier from a distance and just assumed it was a feature for the barrow crossing. Have trains there ever been that many trains though which have been only just short enough for this platform?

At first I thought that too, that it was a crossing indication,but firstly, why would you show the complete signalling aspect with route indication just for a staff crossing ?
Secondly,the signal only repeats NN4002 (platform2)there's no indication for platform 1 and the staff/barrow crossing, cross both platform 1 & 2.
Thirdly,barrow/staff crossings are usually just plain light indicators and would extinguish for trains in both directions.
Fourthly, the co-acting position light signal has the lens hoods angled upwards.

In answer to the other question,two to three cars is the nom for Platform 2 but you could just get 4 cars in up to the signal.Network Rail Rules of the route state 96m usable train length so a 4 car would just fit in,

Lincoln platform 1 has the same type of arrangement since its re-signalling, because with 4 cars, you're right up against the signal.
